I find this the most amusing answer: not because terms got confused, that happens all the time, but because you think it's weird.

And, on a side note, polygamy is not only about a man having more than wife: it might as well be about a woman having more than one husband, a man having more than one husband or a woman having more than one wife. Perhaps not according to the definition, but in my definition, it also involves relationships outside marriage (as I don't believe in that).

The real question is: do you think our species is a monogamous one? How can you choose only one path, only one lover, only one home? And if you do choose only one, will that satisfy you until the end of your days?

And the answer is, no ordinary human relationship "will satisfy you until the end of your days." That's not their nature. Being satisfied in that way is something you experience through a profound knowledge of and respect for yourself, as a soul in relationship with God (as you understand Her ) It's not really an external thing. Once you truly have that, it's a lot easier to be monagamous, because the "reflecting" aspect of relationships isn't as important to you.

Yes and no. Our species is complex and we can do pretty much what we want, enjoy or choose to. If anything, it's our society that's monogamous, not our species.

Some people want that, enjoy that or choose that. Some don't. Our species is made up of individuals with unique wills and we can't expect everyone to like the same things

Btw, isn't there a thread on marriagea and stuff already?

Properly speaking, I think, that would be polyamory.

Oxford English Dictionary:

1. a. The practice or custom of having more than one spouse at the same time. Contrasted with monogamy.
Chiefly applied to the practice or custom (more explicitly called polygyny) in which a man has several wives at once, but also including polyandry, in which a woman has several husbands.
Sometimes also used with reference to sexual partners rather than spouses.

I think monogamy is like a lot of good things - it's not there for the asking; you have to work at it; but it's SO worth it! Like me playing the harp - I have to work at it but it's SO worth it! Like a lot of good things
