they lost my luggage when i arrived in morocco on monday, but i got it back yesterday. w00t!
ramadan makes everyone look (and feel) completely exhausted and makes the traffic even more dangerous than usual. everything works really slowly, and no cafés are open in town. people are crazy.. fortunately, it's over tomorrow (or saturday? depends on when that old guy in saudi arabia sees the moon). but there are lizards on the window, and on the ceiling! 8D and we have a frog in the bathroom.. and kittens; lots of kittens. i do love this place.

My goodness, I miss my traveling days! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, Nel!
Simple happy - am eating a toasted bagel, and Jupiter with its 4 moons was so pretty in the telescope last night - they were all lined up at just a slight curve - it was kind of like a little baby smile with Jupiter as a pearly little baby tooth in the middle I just wish Saturn was still up I'll have to wait a few months for that.

So, there's this song on the radio and it makes me laugh EVERY time. I don't know the title, but it's something like, "DJ's got us falling in love again," or "Dance like it's the last night of your life," or something.... but there's this really popular rap singer (Pit Bull) that does a little rap thing in the middle of it, and after doing some super macho rapping, he suddenly sings the words "I'm a huuuuuustler, baby," and it sounds SO WEIRD. Cracks me up every time without fail.

i'm here for 3 weeks, at my partner's family's farm near rabat. we'll be spending most of the time here, but we'll go out for photography trips to the mountains and the atlantic.. we might also go to marrakech next week. we'll see; we're mostly here to relax.

I have so much to be happy about today.
My parents have decided that they want to stay in our house for at least another five or six years... which is SUCH a huge relief. I can't think of a time in my life when my parents have made that kind of "staying-put" commitment. In fact, we've rarely lived in a house for that long. So no more moving stress! Hooray!!! Then they apparently decided that if we're staying they want to re-do the house. And I mean re-do. They want to get rid of all of the furniture, desks, bookshelves, and flooring on the first floor and a lot of stuff on the second floor, as well as rearranging everything. I wasn't going to contribute at first, but they kept asking my me opinions on their options so I just ended up saying I didn't like anything they had samples of. At first they didn't believe me, but when I pointed out what was wrong with the choices, they both just kind of stood there staring at what they had for a few minutes and then they both asked me if I would be in charge of picking out the stuff. You guys should have seen the tile and wood floors they were thinking about. Atrocious colors and textures. I have helped save them from a fate worse than death: bad flooring. I love it. I know it ain't exactly macho, but seriously... If they want me to help them avoid making huge decorating mistakes it's not like I'm gonna say no. Especially since I've been begging them to redecorate for years. The hideous floral print couch is finally gonna be gone forever. Soon. |

I decided to spend a good deal of money on shopping the other day, just to make up for a disastrous morning (involving 3 hours of travelling to and from a health centre in the boondocks).
So! I got myself a pair of really slim and oh so good-looking jeans, as well as a blazer that radiates pure handsomeness. Combined with a cool t-shirt and sweet shoes, my friends were all like "damn you're hot"!

I love blazers; alas, I've lost enough weight that mine are all too big for me, except for one that had taken in so it wouldn't be. If only I had enough money to do the same for my others...
Also, sweet shoes are, as the denominator might suggest, very sweet indeed. Hafta say, though, skinny jeans make everyone who wears them look like they've escaped from Santa's workshop.

Skinny jeans are awesome if you've got the figure to pull it off!

Sometimes girls can pull them off, but I'm thinking mostly of guys. 'Round these parts, at least, they are almost invariably worn with pointy-toed shoes, a combination which I have never seen work (awesome as pointy-toed shoes are by themselves).
When I see this kind of stuff on the street, all I can do is cringe. Edit: This website's stuff is even worse!

Rest assured Gwai, I never had a liking for pointy-toed shoes so you won't see me combining them with such jeans. Or any other pants for that matter.

They were 'in' for women a few years ago too, but I have big feet. Wearing pointy shoes really isn't helping with the apparent size of them. Rounded shoes make your feet look much smaller.
