Good afternoon, everyone! Note to self: Questioning the day-to-day morality (the small things, in other words) of others by going so far as to say that they have not earned the right to call themselves human beings because of their actions or lack thereof is not a way to win friends OR arguments.

GRRR!
There are people arguing in Starbucks right now. My Starbucks. This is my happy place; I spend 3/4ths of my waking day here, and it is my happy place where I go to not be disturbed by people and their stupid, meaningless problems. They are therefore directly assaulting my last outpost of sanity in this insane world. Makes me want to personally liquidate them into puddles of radioactive pus. ...

I wish I had a good place like that to go. I think I might go to the coffee place by my house soon. I have a hard time relaxing at places. I get there and I immediately am ready to go home. But I don't like being at home all day either. The house makes my sinuses and throat hurt and I like to get away from everyone for a while. It's just that once I get to "away" I want to leave. Must learn to relax and sit around.

Yeah, it's nice how you don't have to spend money on coffee there. I don't really like any of the libraries around here though. There's always lots of ghetto kids hanging out there and not very comfy seats. :[ I like this coffee house though. Reeeeally comfy chairs.

Ah, see coffee shops (Starbucks, mostly) have never been comfortable to me. Too crowded. Of course librairies can be equally crowded if they're small scale. Bookstore serve as a nice alternative, though.

This place is about the same crowd level as the library. Even though the library is huge, it's always full of people. Sometimes I go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and hang out in the cafe section there, but I'm starting to get sort of sick of it. I like the less corporate feel of these little cafes.
See, I would be happy that the library is always full, but most people are either checking out movies and music or just checking their facebook on the computer, or something like that. Some read though. There's a good culture here for readers- lots of book groups, book stores, things like that. |

Barnes and Noble is good (but Borders is better!...when you can get to one). I'm really sad about the downsizing of their music section, especially Classical, which they've really cut down. What I don't understand is why a bookstore like B&N would follow "trends." Shouldn't SOMEONE be standing straight amidst the tide of fads of the day?
That's neither here nor there...anyways, you're absolutely right about librairies being used mostly for movies or computers. The closest library is in a town that is decidedly NOT book-gravitating. We have no bookstores or even music stores. The library is the most culture-rich institution in town.

We have three libraries that I go to often, and more besides. We have a Borders and a Barnes and Noble. I like Borders, but B&N has a larger selection, for the days I'm actually thinking about buying a book. Borders has all the good manga though. I seem to go to B&N a lot but I think that's just because I had a gift card there for a while so I was buying bagels and things with it. I don't like it because it's in the mall and it doesn't feel like a real Barnes and Noble. It gets really crowded too, to the point where you can't find a place to sit down.
One thing I am very excited about is the new free wifi at both of those places though. It cost money before, which was ridiculous. It was good for my writing though, because I didn't get distracted by Entmoot! But I couldn't fact-check either. |

Entmoot can be very distracting still, can't it? I mostly stick around to read stuff, and post more lightly.
One of our cats is not looking very good at all. She threw up on my bed, and now she's crouching in odd position on the floor against the wall. In any case, I have to tell my mom about the cat, and then get back to my homework. I'd better go. Have good good night's rest, Kat

Poor kitty.
My kitty's better now. I think he was just constipated. I was worried, though. |

Update on the cat: one of her legs is broken, and probably her insides are messed up. We're going to have to have her put down.
