Lord Elronds Mistake

Something occured to me when I was watching the New LIne version: Lord Elrond does his shpeal about how he was there when men failed and they showed him and Isildur in the Chasm at Orodruin and he tells the king
" Cast it in the fire" and Isildur shakes his head, " No" and he takes the ring for himself. It occured to me that Elrond failed all of the Last Alliance by letting him just walk out of there. Why didnt he just waste the bastard right there and then? He could of fired an arrow into his back and kicked the ring into the fires and be done with the whole third age. Of course this is not how Mr Tolkien meant the story to go, but everytime I see that part where he criticises the hearts of men I keep thinking he was a bit faint of heart himself ionthta moment for not wasting the greedy bastard. Comments, anyone?

Yeah, I saw it there.

I know, but in my experience Belgium has seemingly more chance to be used for that sort of jokes than any other European land. I was just wondering if there was a significance.

Because it's so cool, duh. If we think about how the Netherlands it all is, it's obvious.
I don't think there are that many jokes about Flem/Phlegm (you know, the place where they speak Flemish ), possibly cause people wouldn't get it.

And then there's this that basically made me wonder: (I posted it before in the second venting thread but that one got deleted)

Well, I can understand people not getting it, after all, the place where they speak Flemish is Flanders, not some outlandish place called Flem. Tsss, some people...

*Sigh* Silly Belgians... No wonder they use your country name like that.
*Pokes Eärniel for misinterpreting her*

This is an interesting thing to discuss! But I think maybe it would be a good idea if you found a thread in the LotR Movies or Books forum to bring up this point in, or better yet, start your own thread on it!

That rabbit doesn't f*** around. Look, he has a blowdryer - in the snow, which could also cause electrocution, never mind melt you if you were a snowman!

Anybody want a Snowcone?

Well, when you are at "Forums Home," open up the forum you want to look through, like "General Messages" or "Lord of the Rings Books or whatever. Just check out all the threads that exist, and pick whatever looks interesting to you. Another thing you can do, is type a keyword for your search into the "Search" box, and all sorts of threads will get pulled up for you.

When I first came here to the moot, I read all KINDS of threads, some of the more compelling ones I read from beginning to present. Got a lot of interesting reading done, plus I was able to get a good grasp of what kind of personalities my new fellow mooters had. Happy mooting!

Not obsessed, its just that a freind of mine whom I really care about got me the books one by one when I was in the hospital, it was some of the funnest reads of my life, I must say. By the time I was out, he had gotten me the entire collection. So I have a special place in my heart for those comics.
