Is it "taste a fresh air for a while"?

Could the speaker be Frodo talking about the hobbits climbing a tree in the Old Forest to find their bearings?

"Let us go up and look about us!
I still feel my breath /_h_r_/./
I should like to taste a /_r_e_/ air for a while."

1. "Fresh" doesn't even fit!
2. Not Bilbo.
3. Not Frodo.

Is it "a freer air"?

Short and freer are the missing words - but the speaker is not Merry.

"This is your choice: to ride with me to war, and let us see in battle whether you are true; or to go now whither you will. But then if ever we meet again, I shall not be merciful."

Is this Théoden speaking to Wormtongue?

"You do not ask me or tell me much that concerns yourself, Frodo. But I already know a little, and I can read more in your face and in the thought behind your questions. You are leaving the Shire, and yet you doubt that you will find what you seek, or accomplish what you intend, or that you will ever return. Is not that so?"

Ooh, that elf. The one they met in the Woodland Halls... Oh, it's been far too long since I read the books. I can't think of his name, so the speaker is still open if the quote is solved.

I hate to hog the whole quote, but it is SUCH fun to solve them...

I still have no clue as to that Elf's name, though. Gilraen was Aragorn's mom, and it weren't Glorfindel... I feel like it had a G in it...

I'm on break now - for Christmas and other holidays. So I should have some time to post, etc.

I believe it was Inglorion, Val. However, I am not about to issue the guy a death certificate or something, so I'm willing to let this slide and consider the quote solved Dazzle us!

Busted! When I solved, I thought I'd easily have time to post one soon. Frankly - I just didn't make a point to do it. Will try to get something up here before long.

Glad you want to play. Now that we've had a short break, maybe we can come back with more enthusiasm. Maybe some former players will come back and play again...

Are you kidding? This thread (well, a previous version of it) is what got me into Entmoot in the first place. I will be very sad when we put the Quote Game thread to bed permanently!
