Ok, in the same age, an easy question - how long did the siege of Barad Dur last? (in the Last Allience)

Oh - I'm not like that with everything... I've just become especially enamored of Arnor, Gondor, Elendil, etc - and have immersed myself enough in details of those things to be pretty fluent. We all do that in our areas of interest... you just hit right on mine with your question.

Boy... and I get onto other people for holding this thread up!

OK... Why did the Kings at Fornost after Malvegil take names with the prefix ar/ara?

ooh, I know that. It's because the kings of Arthedain reclaimed all of Arnor, and so started using 'Ar-' in the beginning of thier names, as a signal of some sort. I think...

Yes, you got the right idea! I think the words are something like; in token of their claim of all Arnor...

Your turn!

Well... SOME say it was them DWARVES as done it! Couldn't take a joke, I'd guess. Fram was fresh from slaying that old dragon, Scatha - and some of the dwarves came by asking if they could get some of their old treasure back... what Scatha had dispossessed them of.

Anyhow, ole Fram thought it'd be quite funny to just send them a necklace of Scatha's teeth - you know, telling them that THIS treasure was quite hard to come by. The dwarves, now they didn't think it was all that funny - and they done him in.

Why (apart from normal 'father of the bride' stuff) did Dirhael have misgivings about marrying off his young daughter, Gilraen, to Arathorn son of Arador?

He he (pictures a "meet the parents" type episode under a bush somewhere in Arnor)

Was it some sort of spooky premonition that Arathorn wasn't long for this world, to which Gilraen replied along the lines that all the more reason to hurry so that the line can be continued?

That was the gist of what he was saying, so I'll give it to you. He also said something maybe indicating that he thought Arathorn a bit old for her... but followed up with what you say, so that was probably the point he was really making.

Your turn.
