New: Volume 2 of Prkofiev's piano sonatas
Souvenir of Florence by Tchaikovsky, a wonderfully melodic piece. Truly recommended.

Oh yeah!? Well, I got a ten CD set! Another "Favorites" with completely different tracks except for Beethoven's Fifth. I also got 25 Ultimate Classics.

TB, what about Die Meistersinger have you heard that? The best Wagner work IMO. I listened to the first two discs a few days ago, glorious stuff.

Hey! I've heard of him! He's on the radio like all the time. At least his recordings are.
Down's been up, by which I mean hectic, but good nonetheless.

Solti died in '96.
Did you buy anything new? I bought Joshua Bell (not my first choice, but it was a bargain) playing the Brahms and Schumann Violin Concertos with the Cleveland and Dohnanyi.

Bought a ten CD set...not great, but it was worth it because 4/5 ths of the composers I didn't have a very good collection of. I wonder if one was Berlioz...
Nope, never mind. Maybe they'll have something like that at Barnes & Noble.

My dad's been listening to Bruckner's Ninth Symphony and a Schmidt Mass or Requieum or something like that a lot recently.

Me? Third Day...definitely not classical

I got the Masonic Music of Mozart for Christmas. Not that I necessarily subscribe to such ideas. My ability to passively hear German chorus singing is perhaps not what it used to be. Nonetheless, it is very beautiful music; just piano and soloist is not something I've really heard much of but it is very finely crafted.

I wanted to subtly litter this post with Masonic phrases, but given that I don't know any, I had a slight difficulty. *Shakes hands in curious manner*

By the way, your dad has been listening to Franz Schmidt...maybe its called "the Book with the seven seals"?

So Janny, can you show me a pic of the record you got of that particular Mozart?

Additions:

A two disc set of Rossini's greatest hits, something I don't usually go for, but I was desperate for the whole of the William Tell Overture which I'd never heard.

Glenn Gould's ultra brilliant 1955 reading of Bach's Goldberg Variations.
