I'm happy because THIS IS THE LAST SUNDAY I'M WORKING.

Finally.

Good GOD I just can't handle working all week, then the weekend too. It's nice to have the Mondays/Thursdays without work, but then I don't have a day to really 'rest' because the reason I don't work Monday/Thursday is because of a meeting/assisting with the childrens' choir.

Plus I can't get my weekend homework done! Argh!

But this is the last Sunday I work. Now it'll just be Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat. that I'll be working, and only 24 hours a week instead of 30. Now if I can just focus long enough to get my homework done right now, I'll be super happy and maybe get to bed on time tonight .

I hate not having at least one full day of rest. I won't even put myself in a position where I am busy 7 days a week because I've seen what happens to me in such a situation (i.e. I crash and die). Glad to hear it Tessar.

I remember the Mourning Cloak from when I was little - the picture doesn't do the blue spots justice - they're like little jewels

When I read about Bilbo's black butterflies, I always think of these.

I know those! Although they should be native to Belgium, we have not have had the chance to meet. Yes, they'd make a great substitute for the black emperors Bilbo saw above the treetops.

I've been dying to see the small tortoiseshell, which my dad always says used to be common as muck around here, but I've never seen one in the five years I've started with nature photography. They appear to have gone locally extinct. I hate it when my butterflies disappear. They always manage to make me happy.

I think we have those here. But truthfully, I don't think I'd see the difference with the one on the previous page if I didn't know there was one (like I do now...)

I might get to move out at the end of this semester. I have like... six people who have said they would love to have me as a roommate... and it would work with just about any of them because they're all like me... quiet, not big party people, and they also work to go to school.

If I can move out, I will absolutely -scream-. I hate coming home because things just feel so negative, and because my house is just too ridiculously far from school. Seriously... I waste so much gasoline, and time. If there's no traffic I can be at school in 15 minutes and it doesn't seem far, but in the morning it takes me upwards of 45-50 min through traffic, and in the afternoon it takes me at least 30 minutes.

I told my mom today how overwhelmed I am, and she said that if I want to move out (I let it be her suggestion though--I didn't say that I wanted to move out at first) that we might be able to arrange something.

I know it will make some things more difficult, but there are other stresses that will go away some if I can just... be away. I'll also have more time for homework, more time to practice, I could actually -go- to the teachers' office hours if I didn't have to rush back home to get to work on time, and I can be away from the stress of my parents constantly not trusting each other and this whole stupid... job thing my dad does every year or so. Yes, he's looking for a new job. Again.

My mom kind of flipped out though when I told her that one of the potential roommates would be a girl. She's so weird. She didn't calm down till, after about five minutes of playing 'lets-hint-without-saying-it', I finally said, "Okay, mom, I hate to put it like this, but this girl knows I'm gay. I have no interest in her, and she is well aware that I have no interest in her. She trusts me."

Then she said, "I just can't think of you as being gay. You're just Anthony to me." Which... is kind of a weird thing for her to say, considering some other comments she's made in the past, but anyways... I'm not entirely sure how to feel about that. It's not like I want being gay to define how she thinks of me... but erm... what she said could be taken quite a number of ways, and considering my mom, it could've been any one of those ways.

ANYWAYS. Today was super exhausting (this whole "lets go to school for 7 hours then work for 6 thing is deading my brain cells). BUT... potentially awesome. There is definite potential for this to be pretty awesome if it pans out.

Native to Belgium? How fun! Now when I see them (not in Arizona, though but when I visit California) I'll think of my favorite froggy friend

When they're flying above your head, you usually just see their muted black outer wings, which made me think of the butterflies in the Hobbit. Then when they fly low, or when they land and slowly flap their wings and you see the inside, they're so pretty! Velvet black and jewel-like purple, with bright yellow borders ...

Outside of wings:

We have a ton of painted ladies here:

Your small tortoiseshell is very similar, but has the pretty blue like the mourning cloak.

Painted ladies! More happy butterflies! That is one I have had the chance to see a few times. It's fun knowing they live at both sides of the pond.

Next time you see a morning cloak, tell him there's a girl in Belgium dying to see one in her garden. Ask him if he doesn't know an European relative that wants to give her a visit.

If it can be worked out, I'd say go for it. Living away from home for a while in college is an experience I definitely recommend for everyone, regardless of how well or bad the home situation is. And it sounds like it does have a lot of advantages for you.

And maybe we'll see a little bit more of you here. But I'm so not suggesting out of selfish motives that you should move. Not at all. Nuh-uh.

It's snowing! In some ways it's kind of foreboding but, I feel happy for now. I saw the white through the curtains and thought it was just frost, but it's actually snowing, in big fluffy flakes, and sticking to the ground! First snow always makes me all sentimental and nostalgic all day long, remembering somethings that I can't even put a finger on. I think most of the memories are from the past couple years, rather than childhood ones.

I think snow would make me happy...

I'm really going to miss my New England winters when I move to Old England

I'm still used to North Carolina when we didnt get much snow. When I moved to Maryland two years ago....ugh, I dont like it much. I get sick of it after a while. It is supposed to be very snowy this winter *shudders*, the first snow is always the best though, so pretty .

My brain is made of dumb but luckily my teacher is awesome .

I took two timed tests today... the first one you had to identify 60 key signatures in 3 minutes, the second you had to identify the inversion and quality of 40 chords in 6 minutes. I did the first one with a 100% in about 2:50 seconds, but the second one I had to take twice... the first time I was just slooooooooow. I only got twenty done.

The second time I got 36 done, but I messed up six of them, which wouldn't have been a passing grade.

She marked the wrong ones, and then she looked at the test, looked at me, and pointed to a wrong one, "what is this?" she asked. I looked at it, and my brain just clicked into gear all of the sudden, and I just spit out, "Oh, I'm sorry--Major-minor, second inversion, not an augmented second." So she pointed to another one and I was just like, "Okay, that's a minor , first inversion, not a minor second inversion."

So she looked at the test then looked at me again and said, "... okay, you know this really well, you're just a terrible test taker. We'll pretend you passed it because it's obvious you know the material.

YAY! ^_^
