The internet is evil. I'm teaching a class on one screen, trying to impart some knowledge of state law to a pack of well-meaning idiots on another, and chatting here. I should be putting on a couple more layers and painting something, but I'm lounging with my porridge, instead.

What a fabulous way to be unproductive this is! Thank goodness it hadn't been invented when I had to submit papers on time, anywhere.

Funny story. I was watching FotR at the first showing, movie theatre. I had to drive a ways, since my local area had no midnight show, but a friend tracked the thing down and got me there. And some scene came on, I forget which, Rivendell, I think. I just about came out of my chair, all excitement, because of a smocking detail on a shirt. Here I am, surrounded by the crazy cream of the region, and yet, I had found a way to be my own swell brand of insane.

A proud moment.

After the Lion the Witch and the Wardobe, I duplicated Lucy's Tumnus sweater, using screen captures from the net. Then I was actually able to see it, in Florida, and I was all "Surface embroidery? She used surface embroidery? How totally LAME!"

at me.
