Mauhur and his lads were Orcs who were in Fangorn forest near where Pippin and Merry were being held by Grishnak and his cronies. He worked for Saruman, he and his "lads" were deployed there by Saruman to reinforce Grishnak et al, but it didn't work because the Rohirrim slaughtered them all.
