Hello

. Another newbie joining in the fray.

My name is Karl, and I'm an eighteen year-old college student. I've loved Tolkien since I was a little boy, and I've always been facinated with Tolkien's poems and songs.

I'm an amature musician (singer/songwriter/pianist/something), and I love trying to fit the words of Tolkien's works to a melody... although I'll admit that I've yet to come up with anything that I like. I like some of Donald Swanson's takes, but most of them I found a little lacking, even if Tolkien did like them

.

And just for the record, I was a fan -long- before the movies ever came out. So there.

this year alone a lot of stuff has been up for me and my fam. in less than a month my family is moving into our first home...a home we'll OWN. we've rented all our lives, so this is a pretty awesome thing for us. i'm in the process of packing now.
also, in a little over a month, i'm graduating from school a year early. i sent in a scholarship application just today..if all works out, i'll be starting college this fall semester and majoring in creative writing i believe.

also also! i found out i have a severe case of scoliosis. the doctor told me that i NEED surgery to live, cuz according to him i could literally die of a punctured lung or heart from the continued curving of my spine within five years alone. sooo..yeah. <_< so i'm getting spinal fusion this year..i've got tests this coming month and then a few MRIs the next month just three days after my graduation. so graduation, surgery tests, and moving all at once haha!
so yeah, busy busy...but overall the busyness is a good thing...but to any of you who are alright with it, any prayers or anything would be much appreciated for the coming two months = ) sorry for popping in randomly to say all that stuff though haha...anyways, hope you all are well! be blessed and have a great remainder of the week!

No, we weren't all. Many people (though not many 'Mooters) watched the movies first, or read the book because they heard of the movies. But if someone comes out and makes a point of saying that they were fans of the books independently of the movies...

I try not to watch movies based on books before first reading the books. Also, the books have so much more detail! There are just some thins you cannot portray in a film! Books first!
