Yeah, unfortunately they also snag humourously behind door handles.
This better get fixed on Friday. Aaand it's going to freeze all week. Of course it would! |

You are NOT kidding! I've made quite a few balletic moves from snagging a blanket on a door handle!

And the obligatory gurgling when the snagged blanket yanks against your throat. Been there, haven't we, preciouss?
It's a good thing I invested in nice and warm sweaters, seen as we'll be at this all week. |

Oh, this is rich. So the heating that broke last weekend? The cold we've been braving all week while this very expensive part needed for the repairs was being ordered? The electricity and wood we burned off to keep the house livable in the mean time?
Was all for naught. In fact, we didn't need expensive parts or new heating systems at all, my mother had pulled something loose in the control panel while replacing the batteries. (Yeah, I'm not going to let her live that one down soon.) Aaand the first repair guy didn't think to check the control panel but immediately assumed some other essential part was broken. And so just as it begins to thaw outside, the heating's back. Naturally. |

Yeah, me too. Although luckily it probably wouldn't have gone that far. Belgium never goes that far under celcius-zero as in some areas of America. But it's amazing how much colder just a few degrees lower feels. Still, we have a lot of animals and plants in the house to consider and when my sister visits with the young kids...

Yeah, and you know what was twice as much fun? The fact that they came back the very next week. So now they have some more rolls of change to choke on!
We think they tried again the week after that. But by then we had installed a lamp above and an iron bar next to the new lock and the door was so damaged after two break-ins we just couldn't tell if there were new scratches among all the older damage. Either way they didn't get in again. So maybe they did choke on all the coins in the meantime. Serves them right if they did. |

Aaand guess who was back tonight?
The lock held, the door didn't. Aaand guess who landed his stoned ass in prison (heck, it'll probably only be a few hours anyway but it's a start) because he was too busy raiding the staff's fridge to hear the delivery van approaching? |

Good that he got caught. As you say, maybe not for long, but it's a start. Perhaps when he realizes that he can get caught, that might put him off the idea of trying for a while.

Dunno, considering he was stoned at the time of arrest, I'm not counting on him getting any sense any time soon when it matters. He even took a cup with old Belgian franks for crying out loud, they've been worthless for many years.
I just hope he breaks something trying to kick the door in next time. Because there probably will be a next time anyway. |

Arg, stupid wisdom teeth.... I hate them, and they are intending to see to my demise.

I feel your pain, Sane. Mine gave me teeth that would allow me to play a part in The Hobbit movie as Orc without the need of artificial teeth.
