and strawberry- i think we should keep posting on here. the thread belongs to the moot and i'm sure most of the regular posters on here come mainly to here and not to tooktalk (or should i say StrawberryTalk...). what's the point in stopping this thread? surely your just advertising another site. isn't that against the rules or something? correct me if i'm wrong. tano- did you ever get round to mangling hero? surely you've heard it by now! if not could you let me know so someone else i.e arathorn can give it a go? or anyone else thats wants to in fact...

I mangled another song! Unfortunately, I don't think anyone knows the original, so I guess it will have to be read as a poem. And I think the original was actually taken from another song...but I don't really know, so I'll credit the people I heard it from first. Also, a few of the lines are out of Bilbo's song about Earnedil from "Many Meetings," and from the Silmarillion ("The Voyage of Earendil")
Voyage of the Vingilot (Originally 'Wreck of the Lady Washington,' William Pint and Felicia Dale) It had been many years ago that the Noldor rebelled, and now Morgoth ruled the day, When the valiant ship, the Vingilot, from Arvernien sailed away, (Blessed Star) From Arvernien sailed away. Now the Captain of this bright ship, Earendil so young and fair, he guided them all over the coast of Middle Earth, in panoply of ancient Kings, (Blessed Star) In panoply of ancient Kings. Now he was not far from Endor's shores, when the sons of Feanor attacked, then Elwing flew to him in the form of a bird, with the Silmaril about her neck, (Blessed Star) With the Silmaril about her neck. The Silmaril she then bound on him, and crowned him with living light, Then the sailed on, ever toward the West, 'twas Valinor they sought, (Blessed Star) 'twas Valinor they sought Now as they reached the Western Shore, and came to the Enchanted Isles, the Teleri saw the coming of that ship, and the other mariners stayed aboard, and Earendil left Elwing there (Blessed Star) Earendil left Elwing there. And he searched for Manwe, as he climbed the hill of Tuna, but the streets of Tirion he found bare, then "Hail, Earnedil," cried Eonwe, and summoned him to the Powers of Arda (Blessed Star) Summoned him to the powers of Arda. Now he stood before the Great Valar, and begged pardon for the Noldor, he delivered the errand of the Two Kindreds, and they granted him his prayer (Blessed Star) They granted him his prayer. Now they took the Vingilot, and made fair and marvellous she was, and Earendil sat at the helm of his ship, with the Silmaril bound upon his brow (Blessed Star) With the Silmaril bound upon his brow. Now Earendil sails, as a beacon of hope, brightest star in the night sky, over Middle Earth he is seen, Gil-estel he is called, Vingilot carries the Silmaril bright, (Blessed Star) Vingilot carries the Silmaril bright (forevermore) Vingilot carries the Silmaril bright. Oh, and the songbook is now ready. So who else wants a copy?
