My teacher was similar to yours, Tess.
I hated Sophie's World by the way. I do own The Fishbowl by Jostein Gaarder, but never got past the first chapter.

I've read some of Gaarder's first books, but not his latest ones. I enjoyed some of them, but I think I got a bit tired of his style after a while.
What's the title of The Fishbowl in Norwegian? I don't recognize it ...

I have no idea. I'm not even sure if that's the name of the book in English, but it does have something to do with a fish bowl. The book is somewhere in the bottom crate stacked behind my desk. In other words: unreachable.

We read sophie's world in my English class. I had trouble because i kept reading ahead.

I don't actually remember the book at all, but my general feeling is that it was a good book. I finished it. If a book sucked, I didn't finish it and then faked my way through the test.

Although I have to say I don't agree with the teacher about everything... he likes to make some broad statements that "everyone should agree with," because of basic beliefs he thinks everyone holds, but it's not quite true... I know people who hold different beliefs. Anywhooo... great class.

I asked him if he had any suggested resources for my continued education on the topic, and he suggested a book called "Sophie's World" to start with. Anyone read it? He said it's very basic, but that it's a decent starting point because it describes a brief history of philosophy.

Although at this point I'm not entirely sure if what I'm interested in is actually philosophy, or if it's the critical thinking portion. Is there a difference? I don't even know... Gwai?
Philosophy is waaaaay too broad. You'll need to narrow things a good deal more.

I thought so... however I believe the narrowing period will have to wait till after I have a better idea of just what I'm interested in. Hopefully reading a few of the books my teacher has suggested will help me get a clearer idea of what I'm enjoying about the subject.

Yes, I had to check to twice to see what happened. At first I though my ad-banner had failed.

I don't like it. It makes me feel like I'm in Mordor-Moot. Also it's not quite April 1 yet.

Let it be known for posterity: it takes approximately 20 months of recklessly dashing across the streets of Toronto to get hit by a bus.

Okay, I thought the exact same thing; when I texted my brother, I told him not to worry, the bus was not hurt. Great minds . . .

But naw, just I started to cross on my light, he apparently didn't see me cause it was dark and raining, and started to turn right. I stepped back, but not quite in time, and got ever so slightly ploughed into. The driver was horrified, but no damage done. I got all giddy afterwards; I highly recommend the experience.

Get hit by a bus... Check. Any other o-so-great life tips? But good that you're OK.
