Well, I personally don't really like the idea of Johnny Depp when he's paired up with Tim Burton. I've seen him in just plain scary films, like "Sweeney Todd" or "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". He's a major part of the "creepy" I feel when I think of that movie.

But do you not agree that he is gifted actor, especially considering he can pull off the "creepy" characters?

My Sweeney Todd experience was ruined by my brother (who LOVES it) and two or three of his friends drunkenly singing all the songs.

I liked the whimsy. I also thought that Burton did a good job of bringing out the creepiness inherent in Alice, which we often miss. Both factors together are why I think it works best if understood as a tribute (since it doesn't really work as a coherent stand-alone).

So, I'm trying to figure out what I can do with my summer to help make next semester not be an incredible torture session. I'm taking Music Theory, Aural skills (stuff like sight singing and knowing what kinds of cords/cord progressions you're hearing, as well as being able to write down a melody you hear without using a piano), and a math class... as well as being in the opera and having my other classes.

I'm terrible at the theory/aural/math stuff, so I think I'm going to spend my summer brushing up on all of those skills... hopefully that way I can step into next semester without too much difficulty... and in fact if I can get solid enough on this stuff that I don't have to really do any 'hardcore' studying (i.e. get to the point where the stuff we'd cover in class is just 'review' for me) till the beginning of October, that'd be awesome... because that's when the opera will be over and I'll have some more time to study .

I talked to the advisor, and it sounds like if I switch my major to business I can be out in two years! That's the same, actually maybe a little less, than it would take to finish my music degree... so it's looking like as soon as I finish the theory courses (next Spring) I'll just switch my major over to business . I'm anxious that it wont work out, but kind of excited if it does... I think it will be much more helpful to have a business degree so that I can support myself as a performer.

I've always been very impressed with people who can identify a note on hearing. It's almost like magic to me. Good luck with the changes in schedule.

Creepy isn't my style (I'm more of a Disney/fiction/fantasy/feel-good movie buff), but I did LOVE the Sweeney Todd songs. The whole "Demon barber" thing kind of made it not as great, though.

As well you ought. Stephen Sondheim is only the greatest musical theatre composer of the second half of the century.

I wasn't too crazy about Sweeny Todd.

I finally am quiting Wal-mart. I've had enough of the BS.

Now I'll be going from working with two-legged animals to four-legged ones

Oh? What will you be doing Acally?

I didn't watch Sweeney Todd because everyone assures me it's too scary for me. I did love Edward Scissorhands though!

Back on the subject of Alice: I didn't like her very much. Too much of a pushy, bossy, impolite, permanently angry controlfreak. In other words: too much like me

Acally's not referring to her potential job as President of Entmoot, is she?

I'll hopefully go see Mari next week... I mean Alice I'm curious as to what Tim Burton has managed to achieve.

I hate it when I get a haircut and someone I know comes in. Actually, that's only happened to me once (today) but I am always afraid it's gonna happen. It's so awkward. It's like hey look I'm wearing a weird cape thing and my hair is all wet and funny looking. And he had to sit right next to me too. He has a pretty face though- I didn't really notice before since his hair's always in his eyes.

Also I'm making cookies and I am willing to shaaare.

1) With a little luck, you're up for the job as President.

2) You just might be one of those leaders who like their subjects to get down on all fours and kiss the leader's feet

But hey, congrats on getting that assistant job! You'll make lots of furry friends

Yes, congrats on finally getting out of Wallmart too.
You've talked about quitting quite often, but never did it. I am going to miss the stories about crazy people though

Going on the stories I have heard from another vet technician, she'll have her dose of crazy people over there too. But with luck she won't have to deal as much with them anymore. Congratulations on the new job, Acally! I hope it will be much better.
