You really need to think in the context of Middle-Earth here. And I didn't misspell it.

I am still no closer to solving your riddle. Mayhap it is some herald, or scribe who had done these things? Also, I could use a little help from some of the absent riddlers. Are there so few left in all Entmoot? |

Makes me think of a bard... Like how the Elven singers could create the images of their songs for the listeners? But don't know who it might be.
EDIT: Whoa, there came the 666th post. Luckily not in the Election thread, hector and inked woulda demonized me.

No. It is an actual being in Middle-Earth. The answer is a very important person. As far as I know, this person was no bard.
Ooh... I got a good one here. Y'all are gonna flip when the answer comes out!

Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo made record of all of these things in the Red Book of Westmarch. I'm taking the word "rappers" to mean singing (since the books predate rap) and Bilbo wrote down a number of songs. If it were "wrapper" the reference could be to the red leather cover on the book...

It is not Bilbo. Though that is good logic, I must reiterate that I didn't misspell "rappers" and that the word has nothing to do with music, though the answer to my riddle might be considered an art.
Hint: Think shock and awe. Would it help if I gave the book I referenced this from? Here is an amendment to the riddle which might help clarify the word "rappers" as well. Elves, goblins, dwarfs, birds Trees, leaves, flowers, scents Butterflies and eagles Ships, swans and rain Spears and an army Mountains, yes, and 'rappers. All were made by the Artist.

Another stab....
Tom Bombadil From your hints... Bombadil is not a god (at least never confirmed by JRR). Shock and awe are within his capabilities. He is a being in middle earth. His speech is typically in a rhythm ('rapper???). Bambadil may be a manfestation of Middle Earth itself and if so - he would have "made" all of the items listed in the riddle. or not... I'm kind of guessing. If it ain't him then let us know the book you pulled it from and I may hazard another guess...

That's it! Thurin has discovered the solution! Well done, and great riddle - kudos to Midge.
In all these years I never considered using the fireworks in a riddle. Dadgummit, not only that, but ya got me on it, too. Grrr! |

What is it that?
What is it that occurs in a place yet is not a place,
but is rather a reason to gather? A rare event of expression and debate to discuss the issues that matter? |

Is it Vingilot - Earendil's ship, now turned into a star, where he sails with one of the Silmarils?

Oh - and that WAS a good one, Midge. The embarrassing thing is... I just started a re-read recently (my first in a couple years, I think), and read that not long ago.

Backarappers...
Well done Midge. All of the things you listed are mentioned in the description of Gandalf's fireworks in "A Long Expected Party". I was looking for a being that was not a god. Although Gandalf is, his fireworks are not. 'Twas a good one.

Yes, that is the answer. You all pretty much covered my reasoning behind it, and the source, etc. I thought it would be so easy because we all think of them from the movie:
"The finest rockets ever seen They burst in stars of blue and green And after thunder, rainbow showers Came falling like a rain of flowers" (ish). After all the references made to Gandalf's fireworks, it doesn't seem like a worthwhile riddle to make, does it?
