how the hell did the flames beat the wings. I guess high payrolls do nothing in terms of determination. It would be cool if it was an all canadian final, except that means the flames will have to beat either san jose or colorado and that the other team to get to the finals would be the leafs, and who wants the leafs to win.

I am now begining to think that a flames lighting final would be good since the flames are actually playing good in the playoffs now.

Let's forget about the Stanley Cup for a while and give the Ice-Hockey World Championship some attention

The US just beat the Czech Republic in the quarter finals and earlier today, Sweden beat Latvia. So the US and Sweden will face each other in the semi final on Saturday.
We'll kick your ass!

And tomorrow Canada will have to beat Finland to advance to the semi final. There they will have to play against Slovakia (or Switzerland, but it would take a miracle for the Swiss to beat the Slovakians tomorrow).

Canada won the World Championship last year (I will never forget their last goal against Sweden in the final). So do the Canucks here on Entmoot think that they can keep their title?

The World Champinship is played in Prague, Czech Republic this year. They have their own website - http://www.iihf.com

You will not meet the USA in the finals. We beat them in the qualifying rounds (3-1) and we will beat them again

And in the game between Canada and Finland today, I'll root for Finland. It would be fun to meet the Finns in the finals we're like each other's archenemies when it comes to hockey

The Canucks advanced with a 5-4 overtime win over the Finns. Boy, did my Finnish hockey obsessed friend sound depressed on the phone afterwards.

It looks like Canada will face Slovakia in the semi finals. Though Switzerland were actually in the lead in the beginning of the game, but it was easy for the Slovakians to score a few goals. Right now there's five minutes left of the 3rd period and the standings are 3-1 to Slovakia.

And Sweden will win against the US

the semi finals will be played tomorrow. First out are Canada and Slovakia. Personally I think it would be cool if Canada advanced to the finals where they'll (most likely) meet Sweden. We want to have our revange on Canada for beating us in the finals last year. So if Slovakia loses tomorrow (and Sweden beats the US), we will make Canada suffer

Another thing - The World Championship 2008 will be held in Canada. They've never hosted a championship before but since 2008 will be like the 100-year anniversary of ice-hockey and since Canada invented the sport, it's very fitting that they get to host the games that year.

That was the fifth time we met Canada in the finals and the fifth time we lost to Canada in the finals. Dammit, just like last year we had a two-goal lead but that didn't prevent the Canucks from winning

Oh well, congratulations on your 23rd gold medal. Now you have more gold medals than Soviet
