I agree. TD - It's beCAUSE he's a Nazgul that a real fight at this point wherein it's a serious thing would be sort of like a death-knell for the whole story, or at least a no-turning-back point after which all our characters start engaging in an all-out war. How's Khamul gonna seriously fight - with an enormous audience - someone as important & skilled as Mahtaliel, without either killing her publicly because he's transformed into a full-out Nazgul, or her killing him or at least enraging him to the point where he'd WANT to kill her - well, you get the point. Anyway - yeah, even sparring between those two would seem like a really strange thing, since there's no love lost between them - it's not like they're friends having a friendly spar-session! But he's yours, and stuff like that, so do what you want, but I just had to put my 2 cents in.

I'm not saying it's not valid! I was just ASKING in order to clarify, because we had talked about having more funny posts, and I had done some funny posts that I fully intended to edit out later on (like the mudwrestling one), and I wondered if this was the same type of post, because of some things that seemed very unlikely to me, like when Viv went up into a tree and dumped a bucket on Ray! (but that was fine with Lotesse, so no problems there - I just thought it was a joke!) Don't go uber-defensive on me; I'm the only one allowed to be uber-defensive here!

However, I still object to the elvish nanciness stuff. I know we're AU here, but IMO, the entire concept is ENTIRELY un-Tolkien, and pretty insulting in general to the elvish race, esp. men. Is Marty already snickering about Alagos? That sure ruins the ideas of a good, strong, mutually-respecting friendship I had in mind for them Now I could jump onto that bandwagon and make all sorts of comments about weak human men and how elves snicker at them, but I just don't think that's a good place to go. It's totally up to you, but it's up to me to speak my mind, too This is NOT an argument - do with it what you want to. I just don't see it as being at ALL compatible with Tolkien's elves or the attitude of his humans about the elves (altho the fan-fic about it is hilarious! )

It isn't time yet for her and Khamul to have an all out fight and when the time comes she'll be fighting him in self defense.

I didn't mean an all-out fight. I was trying to support an idea that TD had by suggesting a modification of his idea which you had rejected, because I think in general we should try to accomodate others when we can. Remember your "always answer 'yes' " concept! I think it was a good one. At the very least, I think a small tussel between Mahtaliel and Khamul, at least a mental one, would be interesting, if TD still wants it.

Leave off Rian. I guess you dont really know my characters. Its not that Marty dislikes elves, hint HE WAS TEASING. He wasnt one of the kids who grew up around elves, so he is kinda clue less, but respects them. He was just joking around. He greatly respects them and all of that, he doesnt snicker at them.

As for Mahtaliel, LMM has an interesting back story planned for her, so before you pounce, wait a bit to see what we have in mind.

But my point is that for it to even EXIST as a tease, that it must be thought of by many people. And IMO the thought is un-Tolkien. Again, that's my opinion, and I'm willing to drop it if you don't want to change the post, but I'm gonna state it.

We're not trying to re-write Lord of the Rings here, you guys. If we all wrote EXACTLY like Tolkien, well, we would be one big Tolkien, right? How silly! Poetic license, my friends. I thought the Elven nancy thing sounded exactly like ho Marty was feeling, just like Shah says - he's very respectful & in awe of them, and a little jealous, too most likely, else he wouldn't have been trying to come up with a suitably tame, cute little tease-jab like that. I am answering yes to the idea of Khamul and Mahtaliel fighting, I'm just saying it can't happen yet because even if it started as a 'friendly' sparring match it would inevitably end up as an all out fight. The established interactions between those two wouldn't allow for anything less. Come time for the nazgul to start attacking her I'm sure Khamul will be among the first to try.

For now though, any sparring match will have to be verbal.

AH! Now its there. Fantastic post! I really loved how Aiwendis was there to help stay Khamul's hand like that, and also, its wonderful how Valandil is falling for her. I like how she literally feels wringed out like that after feeling Khamul's Nazgul rage and then expending her thought energy out to dissuade him.

All, please note that only Aiwendis, who felt Khamul's emotions first-hand (via their Rings) knew that he was ready to KILL Mahtaliel then and there.

TD, I believe you may well go and complain to the Chancellor about Mahtaliel's rudeness in public. She will get her well-deserved reprimand.
