That's great Katya. I did that last summer - ran for an hour each day for three straight months.
Unfortunately this summer I haven't been able to keep up the running due to work and a twisted ankle.

I start hyperventilating after 50 meters and drop dead after 150 meters. Running is not for me
But good to hear you have a new hobby.

I've started running this summer as well, though not so much as that; I'm only running about a mile and a half right now. If Aragorn wanted us to hunt some orc, you'd do far better than I, Kat.

I started last October but it's been off and on between injuries and sickness and weather. I stopped for a couple months this spring because of a bad cold that wouldn't go away (about half the town had it...).

If Aragorn says "Let's hunt some orc," then it's probably not really Aragorn and he can run around in the woods on his own and leave me out of it.

Mari, if you're hyperventilating you're probably going too fast. I started out really really slow. I could barely make it to the end of the road.

Jonathan, and hour is a long time. I'm proud.

Nah, I can't breathe properly. I should be able to relearn how to do it, but I've always only been good at short sprints to catch a ball or something anyway. I'd rather go rollerblading
But I'm amazed by runners, so my admiration is hereby stated

So not into zombies. But it has occurred to me that I might have to run away from something sometime in my life. Rapers and such. Also this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX-QhoihLeI

OooOOOOOoooo! Excitement is mine!!

A good friend of mine for many years now, who lives in Colorado, had the idea that she'd like to do some sort of old-time radio play as a podcast, probably with a fantasy setting. I love radio plays, and I grew up listening to the Mindware recording of the Lord of the Rings.

Sooooooo with a little bit of luck I might get to be involved, if she goes through with the idea. Either in an acting capacity (which would be SUPER MEGA SWEET), or by advising her on music.

Fingers crossed!

Watching "The Breakfast Club" now. It's quite an interesting movie.

Jealous. >.<

I have more happy for today. It took a little doing, but I convinced my dad to join me on a 12 week exercise program. It'll be great because it will be motivation for me, and hopefully help keep him motivated as well.

We're gonna do the Body for Life system... I picked it because it has a LOT of structure, but some flexibility, which I knew my dad would like. He's very, very detail oriented, so having a workout that plays to that should be a benefit for him.

I just hope I can keep him motivated. And that he can do the same for me.

In which case I'm sure we will require a link.

Will do. I'm definitely looking forward to SoCal dry heat.

I'm done at TAC, and am now about to start my second year in an MA at the Toronto School of Theology; I'm just going out to visit friends who are still out there.

I bought shoes, finally. I just couldn't find any nice ones on sale, so I went for the expensive ones I saw about 5 months ago already.

I love/hate it when that happens.

Whooo... day four of the 12 week program, and today was the second 'cardio' day. You guys, this HIIT (high intensity interval training) will kick your butt for sure every time. Since you base your 'intensity' level off of your own personal feeling, you might be doing more or less than someone else, but if you actually follow the 'levels' correctly it will wipe you out for certain.

I love how it gets in all of that intensity in just 20 minutes... well, I mean not including the seven or eight minutes that it takes me to stagger home after I finish. But that's not part of the workout. Hehe . I feel like crap, but in a good way. Tomorrow is weight lifting again! WOOHOO!

i went to a big conference in copenhagen last week, and came back last night. the conference was great, i got to see lots of great talks and hang out with lots of great people.. the banquet on the last evening also gave me a chance to see the biggest names in the field dance stupidly to 80's songs. it was great..
my poster presentation went really well too, and i was next to a very well-known researcher in social insect immunity, rebecca rosengaus. she studies termite immunity, and we had a great chat during the poster session. 'twas fun.

the conference, of the international society of the study of social insects, is held every 4 years. this year in copenhagen, denmark, and in 4 years in cairns, australia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairns)! 8D i'd better stay in this field.. :P

after the conference, me and 2 friends went to the leonard cohen concert in odense (still denmark). it was an outdoors concert in a beautiful, calm place. the concert took 3.5 hours and was completely beautiful. the 75-year-old is still going strong. his poetry is brilliant, and his voice has developed nicely during his 50+ year career. i'm glad i got to see him perform; this is probably his last world tour.

here's one of the few actually decent videos from the concert:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXopZCDpZCA

and when i came home, i got to see sedeer for the first time in a month, and actually live at home with him for the first time in 4 months.. X) we've soon been married 8 months, of which i've been away 4. :P way to go..

but now! back to finishing my thesis.. and in 3 weeks, we're going to morocco for almost a month! 8D

cheers to all of you, i hope you're all doing well..
