I bring the Sil to school and read it at lunch and both the students and the teachers stare at me

Why the teachers? It's a classic, isn't? And you're reading when you could be messing around etc.

What's wrong with reading the Sil at lunch? I almost always read at lunch... unless I'm feeling sociable... and is Sil so much different from anything else?

1. You hire people to potrol the park so no orcs get in.
2. You think you are a hobbit (I've allredy posted this but you might not find it! )
3. You madly mine for mithril even though it doesn't exist! (Nice allidaration! *Pat myself on back*)
4. You think you are from numanor and have relitives in gondor.

I would if I ever had anyone to talk to.
I jsut wanted to mention.
I know someone on a runboard board where I'm a member (a board-wide rpg).
In their signature:
Quote:
Never insult a Tolkein freak. You'll won't understand their reply.
It seemed fittign for this thread.

Since I moved, Sicirus and I spent a lot of time on the phone discussing... mostly Entmoot RPGs.

And how true it is.

Last semester we were watching FotR, and I couldn't stand the very beginning, because it just seemed so wrong to me...

So I walked out of my dormroom and found a relative stranger (aka, someone from another dorm with whom I've seldom talked) standing in the hallway, and randomly started talking Tolkien with her...

My, was I surprised when she actually understood me!

I'd like to say, "Wait 'til college," but that's a little ways off for you...

Is your school really anti-Tolkien? My English teacher junior year was half obsessed... and my roommate's physics teacher was a Silmarillion fanatic (ah, if I had been in that class, we'd never be talking about physics... )

Oh... now I remember my latest crazy idea:

Because Em and I talk Tolkien all the time and are annoying our friends, we're considering trying to make a manga (Japanese comic) version of the Silmarillion for our manga-loving friend.

Then I wrote out the list of characters we'd need...

And you really know you're obsessed when you're still half planning on doing it!

Yeah, I guess this proves my obsession...

Actually, right now, I'm working on a manga version of the Smith of Wooton Major....

When you hear poetry that is just having to do with the general idea of warfare and valor in the past of our history....
and you assume immediately that it's about ME, and try to figure out who specifically it's reffering to...

Coincidentally, in LA, it's not a good idea, not that it;s bad, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who likes LotR. Even the people who think they know about it don't know anythign.

Strider

Whenever you get in a fight you call for some one to bring you your sword.
(And that scares your "souron" of evry time)

P.S.
The souron coment was based on an erlier post.
I forget who did it but if you don't know that it doesn't make any sense.

I'm still doing it too.

I've got two right now... I'd have a third, but I really don't remember what it is... It'll come back to me after I post this...

1) Not only are you learning Quenya, but you manage to convince people down your hallway to start learning it too.
All you people who don't know anyone who likes or knows about Tolkien... I'm pleased to announce that I am no longer one of you.

2) Every time you see the word "Friend" out of the corner of your eye, you glance down quickly, thinking that it says "Finrod."
This is honestly not my fault. they both start with an F, end with a D, have 6 letters, including r, i, and n. Interesting...

So true.

You know you're obsessed when you start yelling at people for saying that any word or name sounds Elvish, and have to start drawing on the white board to illiustrate the differences in language structure.

I thought you were only posting things that you specifically had done.

Seeing mispelled (or hearing mispronounced) Elvish puts me in a dangerous mood.

Oh, I am only posting things that I do. And then I go and forget them! Isn't that sad? I will remember it.
