Since I moved, Sicirus and I spent a lot of time on the phone discussing... mostly Entmoot RPGs.

Last semester we were watching FotR, and I couldn't stand the very beginning, because it just seemed so wrong to me...

So I walked out of my dormroom and found a relative stranger (aka, someone from another dorm with whom I've seldom talked) standing in the hallway, and randomly started talking Tolkien with her...

My, was I surprised when she actually understood me!

Is your school really anti-Tolkien? My English teacher junior year was half obsessed... and my roommate's physics teacher was a Silmarillion fanatic (ah, if I had been in that class, we'd never be talking about physics...

)

Oh... now I remember my latest crazy idea:

Because Em and I talk Tolkien all the time and are annoying our friends, we're considering trying to make a manga (Japanese comic) version of the Silmarillion for our manga-loving friend.

Then I wrote out the list of characters we'd need...

And you really know you're obsessed when you're still half planning on doing it!

When you hear poetry that is just having to do with the general idea of warfare and valor in the past of our history....
and you assume immediately that it's about ME, and try to figure out who specifically it's reffering to...

Coincidentally, in LA, it's not a good idea, not that it;s bad, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who likes LotR. Even the people who think they know about it don't know anythign.

You know you're obsessed when you start yelling at people for saying that any word or name sounds Elvish, and have to start drawing on the white board to illiustrate the differences in language structure.

I thought you were only posting things that you specifically had done.
