What we electors want to hear is the campaign promises of all candidates, that way we can know what each candidate won’t do.

elvellon is right; falagar, hector, and nurv- i'm completely behind you, but i think you need to establish (or re -establish your goals for your term. i know you've stated them, but perhaps you should repeat those campaign promises for those mooters who don't have the time to scroll bacj through the thread.
oh, and... VOTE FOR FALAGAR!!! VOTE FOR HECTOR!!! VOTE FOR NURV!!!

Well, I don'y know what you've done SGH, but somehow you convinced Valandil to support you...I did ask him first, weeks ago in fact. I had also askked Rian, but she respectfully declined because she doesn't feel up to it. Of course Ruinel is supporting Jonathan, but Valandil's betrayal cuts deep, and a rift is now between us SGH, I don't know what you offered him, but this means war!
I'm sorry, but an Admin as pres is frightrning...too much power, ands clearly stacking the deck in her favour!

Yes, by way of official announcement, be it here noted that the honorable Sister Golden Hair has asked me to run for the position of Vice-President on the same ticket as her. Considering it in the best interests of Entmoot to do so, I have gladly accepted... and will do so!
Vote for Sister Golden Hair!

this is my wonderful speech from a few pages back...(typos edited).
Well, I havent exactly been given a big chance to handle power, except maybe the lotr remake crew. And I think i handled that very well thank you very much. My platform is to make sure every mooter is treated fairly, and to make decisions for the good of the moot using some good 'ole voting from all mooters, if it is within reasonable boundaries. I am promising not to make rash decisions based on my personal opinions. Above All, equality among mooters. [EDIT] and who needs experience handling power when you have the help and advice of good hearted mooters? thats what brings experience. VIVE BERLIOZ!

Without real power, the president does not have the ability to make any sweeping or influential promises. However, a lot can still be accomplished with our own abilities. If you elect me for President, I will strive for peace among Mooters. I have a long history of respectful posting on this board (I do acknowledge that many other Mooters do as well), and this is one of the fine qualities I will bring to the symbolic role of president. I would be honoured to act as Tolkien's "regent" by being your President.
Cheers, Nurv Edit: Thanks Brownie. Hm... Trilogy, nice!

I think alot of newbies dont come back because-1) they joined for the rpg, then they found a better site for it, 2) they werent welcomed, and were discouraged by the anti jackson talk, 3) they just liked the look of entmoot, but didnt have time for it.
If elected, one of my goals is to welcome newbies personally by pm (I have done a lot of it already) and would be pleased if others would join me in doing so.

Then newbies would leave because they'd be flooded by PMs the moment they arrived! (Just kidding, that's a great idea, I've done that too a couple times.)
Nice work Hector.

lemme see...who was born in 1906?(my post count number) hmm....oh, i think it was Sir William Walton! , that great english composer.
yes newbies are driven away, and its sad. And I also will try to somehow improvise our 90 second rule; and i think ive come up with an idea. back in the day when me and Nirv were racing to 1000, I made a rule that each of our posts could not be under 15 characters. this rule would apply well to posting i think, a post cannot be under 15 characters, and we could minimize the time period between posts to something like 30 seconds, or remove it altogether.

I wonder how much spam would occur if it was removed? If it was down to 30 seconds, true spamming still could not occur, especially if there was a character limit.
You're full of good ideas today.

I do think the 30 second rule would be enough. However, your example was also a bit of spam! Maybe the text limit is relevant then.
I can think of an exception, if you're telling someone they're incorrect in a trivia thread, and you only need to say, "Nope, incorrect" or something.

As for 2), we have a welcoming thread that seems to be usually well received by the newbies. Tssk tssk, for a president candidate you didn't do much research....

Not all the newbies post in the Welcome Thread, so maybe they didn't feel welcomed, even though they would have been.
That's where a PM would be an extra nice touch. We could have the Entmoot Welcome Wagon, headed up by our own Hector! Is that the sort of thing you were getting at Hector?

Hector sends me nice little PMs. So sweet! Too bad his box is full. I'm much too lazy to type my hilarious, witty replies twice.
My favorite PM was when he tried to convince me that HOBBIT wanted to dance with me at The Entmoot Ball. Heh! THAT was pretty funny!
