I'm getting it replaced. But still... starting about 10 pages into it...

Hopefully they'll get around to sending a new copy relatively soon.

Well... to bed for me. An hour of Descartes is all I can handle at a time...

I know this thread is about Tengwar, but recently, I've been learning to write the Sarati. It's difficult in some ways because of all the inconsistancies in vowels and all kinds of stuff like that. I've found a lot of good sites, but if anyone here knows a really great one, I would love to know about it. I like Tengwar, and I like even more the way in which Sarati are more varied in shape.

A few weeks ago I ran into this thread, and it really inspired me to learn to write in Tengwar. I've been practicing a lot and can write pretty fluently. I think Tengwar is really cool. Thank you!

You're welcome! Isn't it fun?! Sometimes when I get stressed, I doodle in Tengwar, and it calms me down.

Thanks! This is awesome. I'm going to print some of those pictures for my future reference. It so happens that I am good at calligraphy! (I took calligraphy in an art class.)

Edit: Of course, it's going to be English Tengwar

You're welcome!

I think English Tengwar is a great idea - one can have the fun of writing in Tengwar but not have to learn one of the Elvish languages. You can write ANYTHING in English-mode Tengwar!

I'm kind of curious how you indicate vowels as the first letter in a word. You put the tehta on top if it's after, right?

For English-mode Tengwar, a vowel as the first letter is no problem, since you read from top to bottom. So a word like "at" would be the 'p' tengwa with the 'a' mark on top of it. The flow of reading and writing is top to bottom, and left to right.

Wow, somehow people found out that I write in Tengwar, and now people I barely know are coming up to me at church and asking me to write stuff like Phillip Is Smart or Wind in their notebooks just to see if I really can. It's good for making friends too!

Hello, tolkienfan, and welcome to the Moot

Do you write English-mode Tengwar?

Isn't writing in Tengwar fun?!

I'm out of practice, too I need to refresh my memory on a few of those letters that I'm not sure of so I can write mysterious notes to myself and the people around me don't know what I"m writing ...

I'm relearning, and making my friends learn it too. I was so embarassed I couldn't even read the Tengwar on that lovely rock you sent me. We should all revive our Tengwar knowledge and practise again!

Most of the time I can't read my rocks anymore either. But since I made them, I know what I wrote on them. I need time (and possibly good quotes to put on stones) to practise.
