I read these almost every year.

I've also discovered 2 books by Jill Paton Walsh who completed 2 of Sayers unfinished novels wtih the same lead characters: Thrones, Dominations and A Presumption of Death.
I also have some Sayers I haven't read:

Have His Carcase
Murder Must Advertise
Five Red Herrings

which is the best of those?

I honestly don't remember the plot of Five Red Herrings; Have His Carcass is my least favorite of the Wimsey/Vane books; Murder Must Advertise is within the time frame of the Wimsey/Vane arc but not really related to their story. However, of these three, it's the one I like best. It's interesting to see Lord Peter as an employee.

Seconding the recommendation for Murder Must Advertise. I found Five Red Herrings extremely dull (it's the one about painters on a Scottish island, btw).

Currently I'm reading A Tale of Two Cities. Love it

I'm reading The Killer Angels by Michael Sharra. So far it's really good. It's about the Civil War, but it isn't like a history book, it's really about the characters.

That's one of the few books that I finally had to put down - just couldn't wade thru it. Maybe it was a poor translation, though ..

Just finished Crime and Punishment - now THAT one I could hardly put down!

I read alot of Dean Koontz's stuff, but his best by far(in my opinion) would have to be The Taking. I love that book!

Two thumbs up. I'm a big fan of Greene's, including his later less gloomy stuff, like "Travels with My Aunt" and "Monsignor Quixote".

Have you read "The Power and the Glory", set during the persecutions of the Catholic Church in Mexico?

I was digging in the basement the other day and found my Hobbitt and Trilogy set of books. After about 20 years of sitting in a box I'm rereading them for the 3rd or 4th time. The Hobbitt is about ready to fall apart it's been passed around so much.

I recently discovered a very (VERY) good Belgian author by the name of Amélie Nothomb. All of her novels (as fas as I know) are relatively short, but they're all mind-blowingly good!
If anyone wants to try her, I'd recommend The Character of Rain as a start (for those of you who can read in French, it was originally published as Métaphysique des Tubes )

Several people can read from my original LOTR paperbacks at once! ("do you want chapters 1 to 4 1/2? Here!" *hands chunk of book* )
