I saw an interesting show on the science channel the other night that attributed much of Rome's downfall to lead poisoning. The rich used lead in a variety of ways and consumed huge amounts over the courses of their lives, which lead to sterility and bad physical and mental health.

And yes, killing Caesar was a good idea at the time. In fact, they should have done it a lot sooner than they did.

But I'll always remember him fondly for his salad.

I've heard that too. They used lead waterpipe systems? Something like that.

That's interesting, about the lead. Also I remember they had a lot of other issues with children... were not very inclined to actually keep them around when they were born, and a lot of them didn't live long.

I guess (and this seemed to be the general consensus at the time too, maybe) that offing Caesar had to be done, but we're still sad to see him go. Type thing. And I LOVE Caesar salad. Well, actually I despise salad of all types but Caesar is at least edible.

Sister has suggested Kiss Me Kate and perhaps LOTR is better suited for that story than WSS!

What think ye? or we could do both!

But first we have to make up a cast for these worthy projects.

Do I look like I know Kiss Me Kate?

Please, let's stick with WSS...besides, it's Bernstein. Far superior to that other guy...

Hector, you're a poser and a phillistine,

Kiss Me Kate is Cole Porter's greatest show.

How about the CAST of the movie LOTR doing Iolanthe?

I'm feeling Sir Ian singing pattersongs.

And, since it's chock full of immortal fairies, most of them don't even have to change make-up...think of the savings!

Yeah, cuz Aragorn isn't a pussy (like hamlet). But Aragorn has to be Fortinbras who is all cool and comes in at the end to be king and is all like "WTF Horatio? Everyone is dead!"

Are you dissing Lenny Bernstein?

If we do Sullivan we should do the Mikado. More people know that than Iolanthe...

I'm begining to suspect

that you've never tried to put one of these shows together.

Mikado costumes and make-up...why would you take one of the finest looking casts in modern film and make them anonymous? At that point, you have to hope they can sing, and that's not a good bet, even with singers.

*I* did not diss Bernstein. Who here is actually writing music, hum?

Shot down again.

And so early in the day, too.

That's all right. Tomorrow's my birthday. I can probably parley that into getting lucky a little closer to home.
