First day of college today... It's pretty snazzy.

It's like heaven:
I get the rare privilege of getting up early and rushing 20 miles accross town. Then I get to sit in a class and learn about different ways humans deal with being human (Intro to Anthropology). Then I get five hours off, and then I get to go and learn about humans deal with non-human behavior in humans (General Psychology). Tomorrow I get to go and learn how humans express the intircacies of being human (English). Then I have a class after that about how humans use computers to augment their human condition.
Starting in a month, I have to get up early on Tuesdays as well, because I have to go to a class on various ways that desert-dwelling non-humans deal with not being human (Docent training at the zoo).

THEN...

Next semester, I get to get up a little later, start some of my mornings with classes on what it means to be human (Intro to Philosophy), how humans deal with being human without killing other humans (Intro to Ethics), how various groups of humans have dealt with behing human by blaming their humanity on someone else (Religions of the World), and eventually I get to learn how humans have dealt with being humans by creating organizations that allow them to blame being human on other humans (Political Science)

Reminds me of having to drag around that heavy volume for geology. I was never happier to have a locker in school...

Actually, if you read the word 'human' too many times in one paragraph, it begins to lose all meaning.

Good luck to everyone going back to school! My course doesn't start until October, which is good, since I don't know if I've got my grant to cover tuition yet or not. If I don't get it, I'm in trouble.

Next week the primary school I work at reopens, though. Yay!
