Hmmm... don't have too much in mind for Celepharn. Though I have been thinking of ONE thing. It would be a rather short story, and not include any action.

I have the ice drakes end in mind - but it comes much later, and I've spun quite a story about it in my own mind. Maybe I'll try to get motivated to do that one. Or else... 'The Division of Arnor' or one of my other many ideas.

Earniel - since this riddle has sat undisturbed for so long, why don't you let everyone else in on the answer?

Or else... we could heighten interest in our upcoming project and let people know that the answer could be worked out from someplace in Unfinished Tales!

It's just that Visitors to Court feel a bit unfinished if you'll stop at this point.

As for the riddle, I might as well give the answer. (Interestingly you used the same riddle in 2008 and I too was the one to answer it.) It's Ondoher, the last king of Gondor. His two sons died with him on the battelfield. And his daughter FÃ*riel married Arvedui of Arnor.

So that's where it was to be found! I did look it up, as I said I would, but I couldn't find it in the LotR Appendices (I was sure it was a King or perhaps a Steward of Gondor). OK, I thought, it's probably from HoME somewhere, I don't have the time to search through those now - and I forgot about it.

So right now I found your hint, I looked it up in UT and found there what I had expected to find in LotR

- I went back to the thread, and EÃ¤rniel had just posted

He wasn't the very last King of Gondor, though. His daughter FÃ*riel married Arvedui of Arnor, you said, and Arvedui claimed the crown of Gondor on those grounds. If Gondor had accepted his claim, Elendil's old realm would have been reunited.

But they didn't, they gave instead the crown to EÃ¤rnil (as EÃ¤rnil II), who had won the war and who also belonged to the royal family. His son EÃ¤rnur is challenged by the Witch-King and disappears - and from then on the Stewards are ruling until the Return of the King.

Oops! Didn't realize I made such a similar riddle before. I just looked it up and found it. Wow - looks like this thread was pretty active in 2008 - certainly in stretches, like October & November. Keith K was around.

That's interesting that 'Visitors' feels unfinished to you. I thought it got wrapped up alright. If you like, PM me with any thoughts on that (so we don't misdirect this thread) - or even, post them in that story thread.
