Prodded? Started you mean. You couldn't very well refuse once I was halfway through writing the first one. But yes I did prod you.

I'm back. As far as the Khamûl, Rian and Sapthan conversation goes, I'm not fussy about where it takes place inside to avoid all an outside shouting match.

Shah - Your latest post was like a clip from a movie! So much going on. I really enjoyed "watching" that impressive swordplay fight, and that's cool how you had Viv in the tree checking it all out! This following bit I really liked:

" Hilts locked, and the slightly curved part of Ray’s sword helped him, firmly trapping the flat of his opponent’s sword, bending her wrist inwards toward herself.

“Ah…Nice design, the hilt within a hilt…Don’t…” She tried to shove him off, but the steel of both blades screeched and Ray refused to be thrown. “Don’t see that design much…Very difficult.” She wrested her blade to the left, lowering the point and gliding backwards, freeing her sword with a spectacular screech. She stepped back, trying to clear her ears.
"

That whole piece there is just right, with how you have the dialogue sound and how you describe things like the shower of sparks, the screeching swords, etcetera. The mood is put nicely, too; one can pick up on the camaraderie-betwixt-ME nobility-types that's going on here, from the references to Gondolin, Maedhros, etc.

Sounds good to me. I'd imagine Ray'd hve a large headache himself. Heheh, its going to be a great day for him. Beating his teacher, then dinner with his ladylove. Perfect.

Welcome back Gor.
Great posts guys. LSP/LMM, I'm thinking about having Galadannun watching the fight and maybe even challenging Mahtalliel to a fight. Would this be ok with you two? Maybe afterwards Galadannun and Mahtalliel could have a little talk about Rians book.

Well, how would he have followed em without being seen? And are you sure you want to be fighting an elf like Mahtaliel? ML acknowledges her as dangerous, and know we know she is a kin to the kinslayers and sons of feanor. That would be an interesting scuffle.

He's a Nazgûl, use your imagination!
Mahtalliel wouldn't be able to do anything infront of the pupils or vice versa.

You mean the other way around, Khamul couldnt do anything infront of the pupils. Besides, the students might just rush to her aid, seeing as he isnt the most popular character around.

Perhaps, but I doubt Mahtalliel would like that, having to have students help her against another Professor.

Well, Mahtaliel wouldn't fight him to begin with, she doesn't want to loose her job over Galadanunn. Already skating on thin ice, and I dont think ML would like Khamul picking fights with other professors and really making a scene.

Just to clarify because I'm a little dense sometimes - I thought at least part of those posts from Shah were jokes and were going to be edited out, like my mudwrestling stuff. Is that right, Shah? Specifically the Master Buttocks remark, and the elvish nanciness thing, and Imladris being the haven for such nanciness. I just don't see Mahtaliel making that remark about all the male inhabitants of Imladris And I don't see any humans thinking of elves as "nancy" in LOTR - quite the contrary, in fact! Anyway, was that just for fun and is coming out?

And Shah, I think TD's suggestion is a good one, and it would be very interesting. Maybe not a sword fight, but some sort of competition where they both find out they're stronger than the other realizes or something. I hope you guys can come up with a scene - I think it'd be great!

Perhaps we should have made it more clear. Shah and I wrote those posts together. We were on her computer which is why they were posted under her user. All of Mahtaliel's lines were written by me and are in character. None of it is coming out. Just because we had fun writing it doesn't make it any less valid.

It isn't time yet for her and Khamul to have an all out fight and when the time comes she'll be fighting him in self defense. Should Galadanunn wish to complain to the ML about her insulting him he is welcome to do so. Somehow I doubt the ML would support him in that particular matter.

To clarify things about the ML.

He put Khamul as head of the Library because Khamul had already quarrelled with Elves and was likely to quarrel with them again and again. The ML did not want people avoiding Orrodel, or the house having bad reputation, as there were two "brides" there - Viv and Lilly. He wanted things nice and quiet at Orrodel.

So, he transferred Khamul to the Library. Here Khamul's nastiness is welcomed, as the ML wants FOGAL guys, especially elves, to avoid the Library. Khamul's quarrelling with the elves is no big deal, even welcomed. But of course, he is not supposed to do anything criminal, or try to kill Mahtaliel. This Elf is very PRECIOUSSS

Till now Khamul did well - no problem with the ML. I am afraid he will be obliged to swallow the insult, though, or say something nasty himself. But no physical violence.

Challenging Mahtaliel.

If it is a sparring competition - a mock fight, of course he can do that, if Mahtaliel accepts to spar with him, which I doubt, as she dislikes him greatly. But a challenge to a real combat in unthinkable, IMHO.

So, Khamul - TD will you say something nasty, or will you just turn your back and go to the Library, taking Sapthan with you?
