well, managed to get the parliament of owls started at least, before i rush off:
sounds a very good idea TD ... though how do you get 'cut in' on the one ring? Still both Khamul and Viv will both know this i guess and are looking to see where it goes? Watch out Viv he does not plant any controlling words into you with his "teachings!" so, is khamul still working for the captain, or is he back in khamul 'no 1' mode? maybe we will never really ever know? apart from TD of course! The plot thickens...... |

I think he is trying to recover it for the Black Captain and has been promised second in command. More like Sauron to Morgoth than Wikkie to Sauron. Gordis will know though.

Hi, you guys. TD, I hope my changing Viv's mind hasn't inconvenienced you with your story plans at all. The good thing is, you haven't posted yet, so hopefully no harm done. I just cannot see my character trusting anyone that fully, even Khamul, and also if she gets this One Ring she'll do it by her own wiles and she'll be loath to share it with anyone. She was prepared to do so before, but then Khamul shot her down, so... now she's "trusting no one." I responded to you too hastily yesterday, when I agreed like that. I sincerely hope you haven't been too inconvenienced! I like the Uncle Khamul portrayal, but remember too that there's always some kind of tension between those two - remember "Fellowship?"
Thanx 4 the Owl idea, and the opening, BB! Do you guys like it?

WOAAA! I loved the Owls! BB, Lotesse you both are wonderful writers!
Yes, I believe it is more like Viv to go alone. Also I think it is more like Khamul to want the ring for himself! |

I forgot to add,
Rian that was a good post about Annawen! Loved it. Could you now continue, how the two of them meet Rian at last? Are you up already, Rian? |

Wonderful posts, Lotesse and BB!
Yes I agree with C-Squirrel, once the Ring is near, everyone starts to want it for himself. About Khamul, I think CS had a good idea, Khamul came to Tharbad to report on a mission given by the Morgul Lord. I see it this way: About 10 years ago, the Chancellor was in Osgiliath and he learned the account of the Gladden Fields disaster. So he sent Khamul a message (via an Owl?, or a Crebain, or a wraith) and ordered him to FIND THE ORCS THAT HAD KILLED ISILDUR. Khamul traced all of them, questioned and killed them and now knows for certain that the orcs did not take the Ring. He came to Tharbad and reported about it on the first night, meeting the Chancellor secretly. Do you like it? I think Viv will not tell Khamul about her plan, but, perhaps, Khamul at last will turn on his mind-reading powers and see what Viv plans? Then he most likely will keep it secret and he will let Viv do the burglary, hoping that if she gets the Ring, he will follow her and get it from her by force? |

If viv wants help..I'm sure ray would be up for some mischief....of course, she doesnt have to tell him anything about rings, nazgul or that...just that she wanted to make some mischeif. Ray would totally expect that from her and be up for it.

"WOAAA!" indeed, Lotesse.
Excellent post. really enjoyed reading it. also fits in well with how i view the fellowship of the air: nothing (even for the wraiths of the air) is back or white as it is to the "walkers" neither good nor evil ... they see the world from another perspective, so aquiring a companion to-whoo is a nazgul would not be an issue but as you say a good thing potentially for the owls. How do you see it? for me Large eyes herself, about (almost certainly) to be the first female leader of the owls (is that controversial? ) , will see this bond with her companion Viv as a meeting of equals, not as a mistress / pet relationship? Of course you can develop it anyway you want ... absolutely! ... but it'd be even more fun if your new character was as much independent as she is loyal and loving to her companion .. what do you think? will she ultimately be an owl leader if it were ever an issue (can't see it ever being one anyway, can you?) or would the leader of the owls in the air be a pet to a "walker"? whatever you think is good ... but it would be good for the story if large-eyes whilst always being true and loving to Viv was also an owl first and in her own eyes an equal? (course VIV may not see it that way ... why would she?) but what i am hoping to develop with the fellowship of the air and tree and leaf too *winks at CS* is that as non humans they see things from a very un-human perspective, neither good nor evil, neither light nor dark ... they have their own lives and concerns and rarely till now have bothereed to stir in the strange and myriad ways of those who are groung-bound ... (poor fellows!) anyway, all is good ... and i really enjoyed your large-eyes character post! best BB |

I don't know too much about the intricacies of Harry Potter's relationship with his white owl, but I rather see it sort of like that. I don't really want to get too carried away quite just yet with heavily developing the Owl, perhaps a few months down the line. I rather want to have the focus on Viv, and I'll be getting much busier soon anyway and will hardly have time even just for the Viv stuff, so perhaps you can do all the Owl things (except for Large Eyes whom I will do whenever she's with Viv, and whenever I'm able to - thanx so much 4 the owl, by the way! ) Thanx for all the fish, you guys! I live for your comments on my writing.

Rian - no need to rush Annawen into something that takes her out of the action.
After all... Marty and Ray may not exactly end up in long-term relationships with the girls they have their eyes on for now. At least ... we should hope not!

Val, do you want to keep Annawen at the inn? I just made her say the applying for a job thing so she could wait outside with the handsome yet unnamed young man I'd rather keep her at the inn, anyway.

What do ye think of my latest contribution. I, ever so modestly , think that it was a very nice addition to the story.

er.. does not the falcon kind of have to ask to be a companion though, like its a mutually agreed thing??? could be worrying y'know ... one minute, say for eg Marty or Ray's walking along whistling .... thump thump an extremely large hippopoatmus lumps up and says "heh Man, i'm your new companion!" let's hope no,say, elephants turn up for Rian or giraffes turn up for Valandil etc ... .... the University would be a decidedly odd place ... as would greater old tharbad town. the Guild of predators, eh? I look forward to that intensly. mmm.... maybe they will not let the butterflies in? ... until we have to hire an assasin and kill the current Guild secretary ... a very flighty Osprey mehtinks ... just to prove we can be as predatory as the next Flyer, thank-you very much? cantankerous new secretary ... (nervously) "well, its not' exactly in the rules..." Hard nosed evil-eyed predator Lord ( gwraithir the Eagle) "I supsect it will be now!" *laughs* but i digress as usual..... yeah very interesting post Sir grey, maybe just write the falcon asking to be companion? up to you! best BB |
