Hostel
A bit of a formula movie, but turns out to have an interesting premise. One exceptional scene (IMO) surrounded by averageness. Tsotsi Contrived.

Stay.
WTF. In a word, convoluted. Nicely edited, I thought; artistic and stylish in that regard. Ultimately, too much mix-mash of reality-fantasy bending. Narrative is too twisting for its own good. Good performances by the male leads though. Eerie, Mulholland Drive-esque score. Unfortunately, 1) I was falling asleep during the film, 2) I made the mistake of making an effort to stay awake, and 3) I do not want to see the film ever again.

Brokeback Mountain.
I didn't quite care for the Mansex, but it was a good film. Great score. I was able to relate to some aspects of the relationship, but obviously not others. So it wasn't as powerful a story for me, as it could have been for others.

I was asked about this film a few hours after I watched it. I couldn't even remember the ending. Still, a great performance by the desperate housewife in drag, and a couple of laughs along the way.

Good! It got a little draggy, due somewhat to lack of snappy dialogue, the fact that it was shot in black and white, and had no real score. But the story was good and the acting was better. Very interesting, very good, though not exactly what the trailer hinted at.

Straw Dogs
Old (1971) and creepy (thriller with no score). Very gripping at times. A good ride, but not a film one cares to think about afterwards.

I just saw Ladder 49. It was a really good movie, but so sad. I cried at the end.

Caught "The Generals Daughter" last evening, with Travolta. Great movie, suspenseful and I'd never heard of it before.

Man On Fire, again.
What a great movie. Denzel put on a fine performance, as did his little female co-star. Talk about opening a can of whopass. Very innovate use of subtitles, and some effective editing. Above all, it moved me. One of my top ten, I think.

Seabiscuit. Great movie. I didn't know that was Toby Maguire in it when I first saw it. But that was before I saw Spider-Man, so I didn't know what he looked like.

Just saw Garden State, which was a very nice and touching movie. Natalie Portman is the best, aswell.
