Yes, I couldn't get on Entmoot, either. And then I had bought tickets to go to Harry Potter at 8 pm with my oldest son - a nice mom/son outing - and we get to the theater, and the power is out!! SO we got a refund and raced across town and made the show at another theater.

yeah, big server problems noted at least by me, too! ..it's still being wierd this morning.
yeah "copper" i like (more old fashioned) but "cop" makes me think of an american cop with flashing blue lights ,and silly films .... with cop cars crashing into each other all the time ... the shortening is just lazy and gives a different association at least to me ..takes me straight out of 3rd age tharbad and into god knows where? I might not be able to get on until next week - celebrating Thanksgiving with in-laws in Arizona.
Eärniel - go ahead and take my boy for a walk, if you get a chance! Also go ahead with our little plot to visit you-know-where ... BB - go ahead and write the interview with Arastud, if you get a chance - he'll tell the truth, but maybe not all of it, because he's chivalrous and would want to protect Melwen's reputation. You can catch rpg-Rian for an interview, too, if you want to start that.

No, seriously, I think you could write for Arastud, he's not really a major character - he's semi-public, IMO, as long as he's written as a basically simple but good guy. I imagine I'd be fine with anyone from the FOGAL (forces of goodness and light ) side writing for him. But it's up to you - and I will probably be able to be on a bit, but I just don't know for sure. Er, Thanksgiving is tomorrow ... and I'll be back home late Sunday ... *whispers to Arastud - "watch out!!!!" * Just don't HANG the poor fellow until I get back! (or put him in the large comfy chair, either - was that what was in that sketch?)

So we have FOGAL and FOEAD (Forces of Evil and DarKness)?
I like it! I think if Arastud is unwiling to tell the truth, some torture might help him to remember what really happened that night. Great Posts, Udu, CS- our undaunted Lilly, Rian and BB! Last edited by Gordis : 11-23-2005 at 08:32 PM. |

torture?!
It's not really a matter of unwilling, it's more a matter of what he thinks people need to really know. If Constable B. just starts asking questions, he wouldn't tell all he knows because he would want to protect Melwen (he doesn't know she's dead). If he is told of the seriousness of the situation, he would tell everything he knows, but ask for the parts that are kind of against Melwen's character to be kept quiet, for the sake of her family. Something like that. FOGALS rule!!! FOEADs drool!!! (a little chant we have here in the USA - put in whatever two groups you want )

so, what are you giving thanksgiving for?
the brits? well, if so, must be a very worthwhile holiday! no, at very worse he'll be standing by the hanging rope ready by the gibbets awaiting an elven robin hood style rescue .... ...course everyone's a suspect ... well, obviously not watson .... you might find it all an elaborate ruse to entrap Rian .. or Alagos .... of course only if Td's Govenor of Tharbad and the King approve .... then again, maybe it was the gondorian guards? would be popular in the city, that .... well, i suppose there is always an outside long-shot that it'll be death by misadventure .... but i favour a ridiculously elaborate plot involving ALL the characters (except watson, of course!) ... as envisged by the soon to return Elmir phudd ...still with the thrill of the chase in his blood ... till he accidently trips over a dead wolf and lugs it back and has it stuffed onto his wall in pride of place! ... or maybe not? |

I probably shouldn't worry about Arastud hanging before I get back - we're only on Tuesday afternoon and at the rate we're going, we might be at Tuesday evening when I get back
I'm very thankful for my Brit friends but the US holiday isn't about that! It's just a holiday where we thank God (yes, politically incorrect now but that's the actual history of the holiday) for the many blessings that we have in this country. And it's a great excuse to pig out and watch football on the telly!! (American football)

whoops - Monday!!! (sorry, forgot - got involved with Ty's story in Tuesday-land)
Yes, I don't think I have to worry about Arastud swinging before I get back ... Rian and Alagos will, tho, if Sane remembers to have her characters ask them dancing!

ain't it still monday????
what about thanksgiving for the safe arrival of the pilgrim fathers etc? from plymouth rock??? Nothing wrong with thanking God ...nor eating turkey with cranberry sauce, and roast taters and croquets, and sausages wrapped in bacon, and brussels sprouts( beautiful if cooked right) and chestnut stuffing and ...er blueberry pie?? and ... er... all the trimmings! and like you said with the lovely insight with the jeweller - nothing at all wrong in spending time away from the pursuit of lucre, and routine and our fast paced world, to enjoy, give thanks and spend time with family and friends ... to refresh and re-focus and re-connect with the important things in life! enjoy it! ... just be ready with a sharp knife and a fast get away horse when you get back!
