Is there a mountain in Rohan that symbolizes the King's power? That wouldn't be an answer, but maybe, if I'm on the right track, it will help someone unravel the riddle.

Well, we find from "Cirion and Eorl" in UT that Isildur originally made a tomb for Elendil on a certain mountain or hill near Minas Anor/Tirith. There was a certain 'awe' about the place as a consequence.

Wrong track though.

Just to bring my two latest to this page:

I stood tall and white,
Though I was not a tower.
Crystal peak shining bright,
Sign of golden king's power.
Quote:
Father and grandpa both died in the war,
King at a young age, I settled the score!
With the aid of an Elf-Lord, I drove back the host,
Then reigned many years, from my northerly post.
Keith K, where art thou??

Okay, I'll guess again.

The first one, the Taniquetil?

The second one, Húrin?

No to both.

Keep trying though... I'll start dropping hints later if nobody picks up the trail.

Was the first one the meneltarma, the mountain in the middle of Numenore that they did their thing to Iluvatar on? (its reaching, but its like the revival. Way to go, Valandil)

No - not the Meneltarma.

OK, first little clue: That first one is not a mountain or hill or tree or anything like that... it is 'man-made'. It's just a bit more obscure than some of the other things that we read about repeatedly.

No... this is awful soon for the second clue, but this is what I would have given if you hadn't guessed 'Meneltarma' before. It's actually 'imbedded' in the riddle though:

Just think about who would be a 'golden king'...

No, but good try!

I only realized after I posted it that about 60% of it applies to him (me!) as well!

umm....elendilmir? scepter of Anuminas? (sp), crown of gondor?

Second one: Aragorn? Isildur? Elendil?
oh, i know: Earnur? the "elf lord" would be Glorfindel, and the "host" would be that of Angmar

You're not right about the first one.

The second - still not right, but you guys are barking up the right family tree...

Couple hard ones, eh? This might be easier:

Wonders and signs I sometimes see,
Or riddles and puzzles that Eru gives me;
Trinkets and swords and things from the past,
What may yet come and kings who are last.
