When they operated is the 70's under the same name the teams were only in the US and Canada. But, at the time they drafted a ton of European players that the NHL did not do then, So at that time WHA meant a "global" player pool. Now, it does not apply.

This question is a query not a bate. Was there a NFL strike at that time?

I am curious as to whether people would be more interested in watching enterianing hockey if the NHL strikes. IF the WHA provides more exciting hockey I hope that if it can not carry on it would do as you stated here:

The WHA will endeavor to be worthy of its name...

The league hopes to expand by six teams into European markets for the 2005-2006 season making it the first ever truly international league.

ah yes, looks like its that time of the year again, Hockey has begun. so far the Canucks are 2 and 0 with a 4-1 win over Calgary, and tonights 3-0 win over Edmonton. We finally have a good backup goalie since we got Johan Hedberg. He got tonoghts shutout btw. anyways, how is everyone elses team doing

Thats because Toronto sucks. everything there sucks, the leafs, the Raptors, the football team (there the Argos right) and the Jays arent that greatt either. You should start cheering for Vancouver, or to a lesser extent, Ottawa. Anything but the Leafs

Hey, i cant make a site that good, and true. Canucks are going all the way this year, and leafs arent even going to make the playoffs.

btw, where JD to talk about how great NJ devils are, just because they won last year. In the season opener, the only conference finals team to win was Ottawa, the Canadian one, who beat the Habs. NJ lost, hahahahahhaha, take that.

USA beat Canada in the World Junior Hockey Championship final in Helsinki yesterday. That is the first time the US wins the WJC gold medal.

Canada had a 3-1 lead, but the US managed to score 3 goals in the last period and beat Canada 4-3.
Congratulations to Team US.
Canadians, don't despair. Remember you won 1st place in the real World Championship last year

yah, but oh well, its only juniors. actually, one of the players sister goes to my school and is in some of my classes so she was kinda upset that her brother didnt get the gold. but her dad has an olympic gold meddle (sp). the funny thing is that JD didnt even know the US had won, i had to tell him on AIM

It's not like it's that big of deal here - I care about the Devils. The only real international competition the US is interested in is the Olympics. It wasn't even on the news here about the World Junior Hockey Championship. Little League World Series gets a lot of airplay though.
