Ow, I hope it feels better soon! Be sure to get it checked - animal bites can be dangerous!
And that reminds me of my vent - my brother-in-law across the street is determined to get a German Shepherd for their family. And they have young kids ... it will probably be fine for THEIR kids, but I think it's just insane to get a dog like that when there's young kids around, and there's lots of little cousins and little friends. I've spoken strongly about it to them, but he just seems to be set on it. And he's away from home a lot, and his wife will not be up to training the dog, and that kind of dog needs training and firmness. I'm not happy at ALL about this

VENT: In all likelyhood, my supervisor is going to deny my request to flew time so I can go to a concert in April. It's not like I'm even asking to take the time off without pay!! I just want three hours off, for pete sakes, and I'll make them up. What's the matter with these people?!

Meh, just a tad blue, overall, today. My voice teachers were very excited about my getting into the voice program, and my friends as well. I got tons of hugs and cheering on and all kinds of excitement.
My parents had a much more neutral reaction. Come to find out, apparently my dad thinks I'm not excited. Oh come ON. I called him up as soon as I opened the letter and spouted gibberish into his voice mail! How is that not being excited? The message I got back on my voice mail later was very flat and 'Oh, well you did it. Great job, you worked really hard. See you tonight.' ... my female voice teacher -screamed- when she found out. We were soooo excited. And my parents are mildly happy? Meh. I shouldn't let this stuff get to me, but this isn't the first time something stupid like this has happened. Actually that's about all that happens. |

Don't feel too bad about that, they probably just expected those best selling albums a little sooner, that's all
Has anyone here ever recieved "OK" as an accolade by their teacher for an essay that got graded 91? Weird. It keeps bothering me..."Ok"? Then he writes that it was well thought out and well written and that it was my best work this semester...so why "OK"?

That's too bad Tessar. But hey, remember you're still a Music Education Major! Don't let your parents get in the way of your excitement because that would be a shame. Focus on the happy thoughts
Congratulations Tessar

I've gotten that before.
I got a paper back with 100% from a teacher when I was in that High School for two months. Then he proceeded to tell me (and two girls who had also gotten 100's) that our work was 'good for High Schoolers, but in college it wouldn't be worth a C.' Basically. He was a little more polite, but really that was the jist. Then I got into college and proceeded to get 90-100's on my papers without having to improve my writing style. Go figure . Now, I did do rather poorly in my second english class, but part of that was because she was making us do a style of technical writing that I hated from the very bottom of my heart. |

Hello Entmoot! I haven't been by in a while, but I do like to check in occasionally. I see some old faces, some new... anyone remember me?
In any case, my vent is that I have been dumped. Two weeks ago Monday. It was my first relationship and I was very happy for the first time in... a long time. Now I'm unhappy again and not liking it at all. Yesterday I called my friend Adam in tears and he was absolutely angelic and invited my over to come chill and talk and eat ice cream out of the carton. So that made me feel somewhat better, but I'm still just... guh.

Sure, I remember you Elf Girl.
That's some bad news though. But hey, offering ice cream out of the carton is what friends are for

It's a shame that I don't feel any kind of connection with my family anymore. There's nothing that I want to return to, except my brother and my cat. I don't love them. It sounds harsh, and I don't want to be evil, I just can't love someone because I should. I have nothing in common with them. I want to go back home to my place, I don't feel well here.

I remember you Elf Girl. You were on here a lot, when I first came (not that long ago). I hope you feel better, that is hard.

Hey, Elf Girl! Welcome back! Always glad to see a face from the old days!
That said, I offer you my sincere consolations for your relationship troubles. I'm sorry to hear that you were dumped. *offers Elf Girl ice cream from a virtual carton*
