Do come and take another look. You get the practice by practising.

I missed the highlight of the month (finally being able to swim in the pool that was broken for two years, and that in this superlovely weather) to see it replaced by another highlight, the birth of a baby nephew. My nephews all appear to love being born in heatwaves for some reason.
So here's hoping the good weather lasts until next weekend. But at least I got a baby nephew out of it, so it ain't so bad.

That's why we fixed the pool. But if it hadn't been for the enormous belly, you would hardly have noticed she was pregnant. Sis is one of those people who never feel a thing when pregnant. She even biked to work every day until two days before the baby came. (He came a week ahead of schedule, mind.) The first one didn't want to come out, the second couldn't wait!

Lucky her! I think there are thousands of women who'd love to trade their pregnancies with hers then!

Thanks.
There won't be any swimming soon, mind, as the good weather is over. But ah well, going to see the baby nephew again tonight. And like a good aunt I have crochet him a blanket.

Thanks all!
*puts a large bowl on the table, filled with suikerbonen* They're a traditional gift that parents give to family and friends at the occassion of a birth. Usually almond nuts (or chocolate) coated in coloured sugar. I don't think they do this elsewhere.

Mm, so sweet and tasty....
Tomorrow I'll write my possibly last exam EVER! If I pass, I've practically secured that shiny sought-after med license...

Good luck, Jon!
Earn, I never knew about that tradition. Interesting! We call them Smarties by the way. Our tradition is for the new parents to serve beschuit met muisjes to the visitors. The muisjes have the colours pink or blue.

Usually suikerbonen are more oval than smarties, on account that the shape is that of an almond nut, even if most of them are made of chocolate these days. So they're not actual smarties (since that's also a brand) but very similar in contents. But I couldn't rapidly find a bigger picture that conveyed the concept well enough.
It's funny how we're geographically so close and yet how customs between Belgium and the Netherlands can be so different. I've actually had the Dutch traditional beschuit met muisjes once, an emigrated acquantance introduced me to it when she became a mother.
