Sorry, no. Am I too shady again? Unclear? *gives himself a mental bashing*

You're getting closer though.

From the fading Twilight
To the new rising light
A mundane thing
Some of the power
Of the Elder within.

I think the point is that it could apply to several things. It seriously sounds like the Lorien cloaks to me. Or maybe Nenya? If you consider a ring a mundane thing.

My question is if it is referring to something specific, or a type of somethings, and when it refers to it.. like.. is it during the Silmarillion or around the Fourth Age? And when you say "Elder" do you mean "Eldar" or the older people or the oldest elves... or what?

This refers to one specific item, which is still rather mundane. By the Elder I mean the older Children of ErĂș.

Nope. This would be valuable to anyone, not just for this one "Rising light".

A tip regarding it's value: both thief and king would value it, though a king would value it more, for two things: both the material and it's beauty, whereas the beauty would be likely overlooked by a thief. Note: A thief, not any peculiar one. Same for "the" king.

No, not that one either. This is much smaller.

Oops, I did it again, didn't I? The riddle points to many objects... then again, it's not smart to make a riddle which you solve immediately.

Well, Arwen is called Evenstar and is associated with twilight, and if Sam is a "Rising light" then I must assume that Frodo is too. So, how about Arwen's gift to Frodo?

Well I guess Frodo could hardly be called a "rising light" after the destruction of the Ring. He became an empty shell, only fit to be carried to Valinor on a stretcher.

But it is for NEL to answer.

That's already been guessed, DPR. It was a mundane thing. I don't know what you'd call mundane. And I don't know where we're getting our certainty that it comes from LOTR. It could have come from the Silmarillion, as far as I could see.

It could be anything ever given by Elves to Men... And that is a whole heap of things, some mundane, some not.

*Eleven Elven fanfares* That's the one. The "rising light" refers to Hobbits in the sense that they as a people are a rising light, a young and a good people growing stronger. And who else to represent them than Frodo? Forget the fact that he was weakened, he was still a tough Hobbit.

Well reasoned.
