I spent two and a half hours helping take down the set for the school play/musical I went to see today.

It was great! I definitely think I'll look into getting a job as a stagehand if I can... I mean, it was exhausting physical work, the people were sort of jackassish, there were diva attitudes flying left and right... but... you know... I sort of didn't mind . It reminded me of when I used to do it when I was younger at another theater, but this time I didn't mind the divas and jerks... I used to not be able to handle that.

God I love the theater. Why wasn't I born with an amazing voice and an ability to act? I would do opera or broadway in a heartbeat.

I'm going to try out for a part in the chorus or as a bit role in whatever they put on next semester!

Happy - we got to "arch" (as my son calls it) on Monday (Colombus day holiday) for the first time since we moved! (IOW, do some archery) I found a nice little indoor range, and the people were really nice and only charged us for the adults. Considering there were 2 adults and 7 kids, that was a big savings!

Anyway, I offered to teach my sis-in-law and her 4 kids (ages 6, 7, 12, 14) - yes, the kids that I've vented about in the venting thread, how they're out of control (except when they're in the care of my husband and me - we make them behave), so I had to be very firm ("You sit here on your bottom until an adult says you can get up") but they loved it. Frankly, I think they like having an adult actually control their behavior - well, I know they do, because they really like being around us, and they just seem to relax and have fun, knowing that we're in charge, unlike around their parents (sadly ) where whoever yells the loudest usually wins, or if you're not seen, then you can do it.

Anyway, they responded great - everything was safe (I made a big point that these are weapons, just like the guns we shoot) and they really loved it - especially when the boys found a life-sized bear target - I"m talking a 3-d target rubber bear! Of course they busted up whenever an arrow hit in, let's say the boxer-brief zone .

I only got to shoot 2 rounds, because I was so busy helping everyone (thank goodness for my older son, who also helped the two oldest cousins), but I was very pleased at how I shot - it's been almost a year since we've shot, and I grouped pretty well

There's an outdoor range a little farther away, and it has a pistol range, too, so we'll probably go there soon. Yay for archery! I love it!

I'm sure that's true. I think everyone respects a world with reasonable limits. They're lucky to have someone who can set those.

Nice to see you around!

Well, since this is the happy thread I thought I'd put this here.

this

It is incredibly stupid, but very funny, if you watch the whole thing.
And when I say stupid I mean absolutely, horribly, grotesquely stupid. But almost as funny.
