Vent: I have recently come to the conclusion that those that I might not know so well from exo-Entmootian life are blocking me when I add them as friends on AIM, at their indirect request. (Indirect meaning...well, I can give one example: a friend of a friend (and therefore a friend of mine) said that no one was talking to her and said that anyone who "gets this bulletin should add" her "to AIM," at which point she gave her message handle to easily add her. Well, I sent her an IM two months ago, and she hasn't logged on since. There have been many such instances over the past few months or so.)
And many of those I often used to talk to either died or now actually have lives, which is something I unfortuneately lack, as much if not more than I lack hand-eye coordination and a certain necessary level of audacity that everyone ought to have.

Yep, soon you'll start forgetting how old you are, and people will be giving you funny looks whilst you try and calculate your age and then the senile moments will kick in and.... oh my god!! Who are you and what did you do with Bob!!!

And with all due respect to the young women here, I think part of the problem is that young women today have really HORRIBLE e-manners. They routinely do this behavior...give out their cell numbers and text you in the wee hours and then completely forget about it until 3 months later when they're fighting with a boyfriend and remember you were friendly, so they want to complain to you, and they're that way with email, IM (in all flavors), myspace, and their other forms of media. Also, they tend to get their access restricted at irregular intervals, due to school schedules or unpaid bills.

This is my observation of females between 9 and 29, for what it's worth. I believe they mean well, but they optimistically overextend.

Gwai, you're only 22. Even I'm older than you.

Get your licence renewed and stop thinking like an old man for crikey's sake!

Some tough love from your pal,
Nurv

Hmm...that must explain it. All the males have either given good reasons or are relatives, which is explanation enough.

No, not renewed per se; I'm going to get a new one for my new state.

I also need to stop mucking about and register in California as a Democrat.

EDIT: code-bungling fixed.

Didn't you hear? California hit its Democratic limit, and they aren't accepting any more registered Democratic voters.

*wonders if he'll fall for it*

I'd rather find a nice third-party, but they tend to be even more insane than the two big ones. Democrats seem to me to be the least of three evils. In this world, it is a sad reality that we must sometimes settle for that which is less than optimal, in our attempts to arrive at that which is at least closest to the best situation; I feel that this is the dynamic which has developed between me and the Democratic party. While I sympathise with some of the third parties, in the end I cannot accept them. If I find one which is better than what I have seen, then I will jump on it like a lightning bolt; until then, I will settle for this party which, while it errs, I feel is at least based on better principles and ideals of government than others.

Which is to say, no, he doesn't fall for it.

Meh, talking about that.. We have our parliamentary elections coming up. Fortunately, we don't have two huge parties that have almost all the power, but of course, there are parties that are more dominating than others. I have no idea how to vote this year.. Apart from some basic principles I have, one of the most important issues this year is wether education should stop being free for foreign students from outside the EU. Naturally, I think it should remain free for everyone. I haven't even decided what party I want to vote for yet..

Gwai spent too much time in post-Communism Russia to join the Communist party.

Well, now that I've read most of The Communist Manifesto, I can kind of agree. I don't understand that whole "abolishing the family" bit.

i've noticed that a long-distance relationship makes it so much easier to loosen my morals.. and questioning them on the whole. i know they're not universal laws and sometimes i wonder why we want to restrict ourselves so much. i know there might be a logic to it, but.. i really don't believe that our species is a completely monogamous one, so why pretend? meh, people are strange..

ah, anyway, i could babble about this for ages. back to life and its mysteries..
