Finrod's (the real one) two wife thing was not polygamy. He got sort of um... divorced, for lack of a better term, from his dead (though not technically dead) wife, and remarried. Why was he allowed to do that though?

Okay, I'm going to set you all straight once and for all. I am the real Finrod's queen in Middle-earth. Amarie is in Valinor, and Finrod's true love, but of course because of the Exile, they are unable to be together. Elemmire is not married to Finrod. She is just after him, but he is devoted to me. Also, he is not a polygamist. He and Amarie are not married but will be when he returns to Valinor, upon which time, I will remain here. No one in Nargothrond knows that there is a queen but Finrod and me.

The only polygamist named Finrod is the mooter Finrod who is an imposter.

Now, be happy I've shared this fantasy with you.
