I guess it is easy enough...
Six things that make up one thing, or are parts of one thing... and each of them means something else. It reminds me of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and you have to get all six of the Medallions...

Erm... I'm guessing this is what it looks like:
1. Stars
2. Sun
3. Moon
4. Laurelin and Telperion
5. Tops of mountains, or ... more stars?
6. Maybe Valar? Or Evil?

Stanzas to a song? Which song?

Chambers that make up a building?

Obviously it's something to do with Elves.

Not on a Gondorian emblem, or elvish holidays.

It is one thing made up of six different parts, not six different things that have something in common? I can't remember what Val is good at... unless that was a hint to say that it was from around the time of Valandil. Which I am not very good at either.

Okay. Giving up momentarily.

[menacingly] I'll be back... [/menacingly]

Congratulations, Val.

The last line was a bit off - "The Powers that never sleep" bring to mind Evil powers, not the Valar. The Valar sort of sleep all the time.

But I am proud of incorporating "Heavens cold and steep" - it is stolen right from "the Hobbit".

Those goofy Elves and their six-day week. I should have known that. I'm becoming a slacker reading so much non-Tolkien lately that I no longer grok the Elves.

You don't grok the Elves? I'm confused, DPR!

I'm more of an adventurous Brandybuck than an Elf, I'm afraid.

Sorry, my bad.

I can't really define 'grok' for you unless you can speak Martian. But if you read Heinlein's "A Stranger In A Strange Land" you will begin to grok, but not in fullness. It won a Hugo, so you know it's good lit. You'll never look at someone offering you a glass of water the same way again.

I don't speak martian.. maybe google or wiki will be able to explain a little better.

Quote:
Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience. It means almost everything that we mean by religion, philosophy, and science—and it means as little to us (because of our Earthly assumptions) as color means to a blind man.
Good?

Oh, and...

Quote:
According to the book, drinking is a central focus on Mars where water is scarce. Martians use the merging of their bodies with water as a simple example or symbol of how two entities can combine to create a new reality greater than the sum of its parts. The water becomes part of the drinker, and the drinker part of the water. Both grok each other. Things that once had separate realities become entangled in the same experiences, goals, history, and purpose.

Not the greatest Wiki entry but it's close enough. I would still recommend the book when you have time.

Apologies to all for the OT. Back to riddling.

Here goes...

From the fading Twilight
To the new rising light
A mundane thing
Some of the power
Of the Elder within.
