Yeah, That's very good Radagast, considering I thought this was the Hobbit trivia thread, and the question was from The Hobbit! So....YOU may ask the next question!

Well, I wasn't sure (I tried to look for that in the book, but didn't find it), and I decided to guess anyway.

Saruman described Radagast in three different adjectives. Itemize them. (I'm not sure 'itemize' is the right word..)

"List" is probably a more precise term for what you're asking. (Just FYI )

Saruman said it during his conversation with Gandalf in the movie. I could have sworn that this conversation took place in the book, but I can't find it. Here's what Saruman says:
Quote:
' "You need not speak to me as to one of the fools that you take for friends," said he. "I have not brought you hither to be instructed by you, but to give you a choice."
I think hectorberlioz and I have confused the book and the movie, which is one of the downsides of watching a movie adapted from a book.

I withdraw my answer.

I think the quote from the movie was extracted from the appendix where the events between the hobbit and the beginning of LotR are described.

It's not in the appendices either, and it doesn't appear whenever Gandalf had conversation with Saruman in the rest of the volumes, either. I think it was a contrivance of Jackson's. I propose dismissing the question and moving on.

The quote I was thinking of is, "I wonder a little that you should play with your toys of fire and smoke, while others are in earnest speech." in reference to Saruman's annoyance with Gandalf's smoking. (from Unfinished Tales)

...but yes, barrelrider, new question

Thank you Cirdan, I thought there was a reference somewhere.

OK.

What device was traced on the sword of Elendil after it had been reforged?
