On the day of the event, I saw that there was a Guerilla Lighting event in downtown Helsinki - they chose buildings to light up based on what is visually interesting but wrongly lit or not lit at all.

The cathedral..

They brought out some texture and life on the old theatre..

I've also tried some portrait photography lately, since I got the 50 mm lens for my birthday.. And friends have been the victims >

Hav you been playing around with the lighting in that last picture?

I liked that theatre picture by the way. The lights are very subtle and emphasize the building nicely.

You mean the portrait? I enhanced the lighting a bit but not very much.. The light there was quite warm and I thought it was fit for the mood of the photo, so I let it stay 8) Is there a particular reason for you asking?

Oh, and quite nice photos, GW! I just wish you had waited for a couple of seconds with the third one from the bottom (with the lamps and the bike) - it would be even better without that walking guy in there. Looks like you're having some nice weather, though!

Thanks, Nerd.

Yeah, that would have improved the pic, but I couldnt well ask the guy to step down in order for the photo to become clean, so to speak, and the bike on both pics, which I didnt see in the view finder at the time, is actually mine.

Here are a few from my last week's excursion... I was playing with the close up setting on my camera, as you'll probably be able to tell lol:

Nerdy! Welcome back! Did you have fun?

That is indeed one pretty kitty. I always adored cats with blue eyes.

More rain than the Moroccans have had in 35 years, wow. The sun-loving tourists didn't see that coming, haha!

How was the Moroccan kitchen? Did you practise bargaining with any market vendors?

Thanks a lot, all! There'll be more pictures, don't worry.

I had a great time, very relaxing.. Lots of really good food, lots of sun and some rain (which actually was nice ), mountains, the Atlantic.. Can't complain.
The Moroccan kitchen treated me well. The food was mostly a mixture of Moroccan, Lebanese and Iraqi, since my friend's family is from Lebanon and Iraq.. And they all have marvellously tasty foods. 8) Their farm was like a botanical garden, with the exception that you were allowed to pick the fruit and eat it.

I was barganing with the one vendor who spoke English.. Apart from that, it was mostly my friend who did it for me, in Arabic. I have to say that I'm not very good at it.. But it doesn't seem to hard now. I'll just have to practise.

As to the cats: they have quite a lot of cats on the farm, most of which live outdoors and a few who are allowed into the house. They're all fed, though. They've bred some really beautiful cats and actually have a pedigree and all for them. Unofficially, of course. But they do have some beautiful cats - unfortunately I didn't get a good photo of the beautiful matriarch, Tiger.

Aino in the medina (where everything is cheap.. Especially if you have someone with you who can speak Arabic.. ).

A banana leaf..

A beautiful sunset at the Atlantic coast.
