YOu could have put it in like this...

Just remove the periods and it would show up like this...

No problem about the hosting.

Great pic, Beor!

No problem. I figured you just have an error in your [img] tags.

No, there are alot of pictures like this floating around. Some of them I would never post on a PG-13 board, but I (with JD's help) will post more, if yall want to see them. Some I did take, but most of the cool ones from the initial push I didnt. For one thing, I didnt get here until towards the end of April, and for another thing, I didnt get a digital camera until December, so I missed alot of the good stuff (as in bad stuff). I do have some more cool ones though, I'll get them up soon.

Yes, parking is no problem, but Baghdad rush hour is a nightmare.

Here are more pics from Beor. This one here is the best. I love this picture. It could easily be sold. I love the blue and the full moon, with the silhouette of the soldiers and the helicopter toward the right. It looks eerie and peaceful at the same time. The composition of the photo is just awesome.

This is a cool picture and makes one wonder what they are firing at...

I saw the last photo in combination with the first line in your sig: "Come back! Come back! To Mordor we will take you!".

And I thought: Yes, that certainly looks that way....

The picture of the soldiers in the moonlight sparked a very strong memory in me. When I was in high school, a very good friend and neighbor of mine volunteered to go to Viet Nam. I wrote to him periodically. One night I remember looking up at the full moon and thinking "Charles will look up and see the same moon."

Three days later, when we came home from church there were two soldiers at the door of Charles' mother's house.

His name is on The Wall. I've been to see it.

That's so sad... and sadder still, the veterans of Vietnam almost seem like an 'invisible' group... I think the reception they got when they came back home must have stayed on their minds... and kept them in a state of uncertainty about their status in our society.

At least he didn't have to come home to a chilly reception and a world that he didn't know how to fit into, as did so many of the veterans. I hope that we have learned from those days. It isn't the soldiers' fault that they are serving in an unpopular war. They go where they are sent and do the best job they can.

The sad thing about my friend's death was that he wasn't even on the front line. He was responsible for relocating displaced civilians. He was traveling between settlements and his jeep was ambushed by a sniper. He'd been through ROTC in college and was going to make the Army his career. He had just graduated from college with a degree in engineering. He had a lot to offer.

The result of this is that I feel I have to support the troops, even though I don't support the war. So, Beor, if you're out there, take care of yourself, do your best and come home! You're going to get a warm reception from everyone on this thread!

No, to my shame I did not, I just thought they were cool pictures. Everytime I see a good photo opportunity, I end up not having my camera. I suck.

That is sad, and I feel bad for all the guys that I've seen go home the wrong way.

Thank you, and that, in my opinion, is how everyone should look at it, and that is how I've alway thought about Vietnam, even though I wasnt even alive at the time. People need to realise that the war might not be good, but the soldiers fighting it didnt provoke it, they are just doing their duty. A little support goes a long way, and I appriciate it. So does everyone else here. Brings a damn tear to the ol'eye. Thank you.

I agree. I can't make up my mind about the motivations of the top leaders about Iraq, however it's clear to me that the soldiers there are doing their best, and they deserve everyone's support. Same with Vietnam. People may not have supported the war, but the soldiers had no real choice in the matter. Anyone who's prepared to give his life for a cause deserves recognition.

Well - it doesn't matter that you did't take the pics. Sorry - if I put you on the spot. I thought since you had talked about your digital camera - that you had taken these pictures. They are awesome - whoever took them and I'm glad you are sharing them no matter what.

No, man, you didnt put me on the spot, I just dont want to take credit for something I didnt do. Its no problem, man, I'm just trying to share a little with yall. I'll tell you right now that I didnt take most of the pictures I will end up sending you, they're all to early in the war for me. You didnt put me on the spot, though, at least I didnt think so, so its no big deal.

That's cool. And I'd be happy to put any pictures up for you. Did you get my e-mail concerning the idea I had?

Oh, yeah, i did, sorry man, it slipped my mind.

I'd rather not, man, sorry, I just dont have the pictures to give you for it. Like I said, most of the cool pics I have are not mine, and I dont want to steal credit.

It is a good Idea, I just really dont want to do it. No offense, and my reasons are my own, if you get my drift. (if not, its because I dont want too much of my (the army's) buisness out in the open. I dont really know the limit for what they can come down on you for. Its an Operational Security thing)
