Please, Daisy. I know the those words by heart... I mean... erm... thank you for posting MMMBop for my perusal.
I agree that the words are not bad for a pop song, and are ultimately harmless. (This is written in the context of having seen the Spice Girls video 'Wannabe' today. Oh the shame.) However, the lyrics are nothing special even for a pre-teen, and do not challange. 'So?' you say, 'Are they supposed to?'

I'm curious as to your praise of their independant route. I may be completely wrong here, heck it wouldn't be the first time, but I felt that that was part of Hanson's charm, that they weren't very manufacture. Again I refer you to the Spice Girls...

Hanson MMMBop lyrics
(I. Hanson/T. Hanson/Z. Hanson)

You have so many relationships in this life,
But only one or two will last.
You go through all the pain and strife,
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast.

Oh yeah. They're gone so fast.

Oh, so hold on to the ones who really care,
In the end they'll be the only ones there.
When you get old and start losing your hair,
Can you tell me who will still care?
Can you tell me who will still care? Oh care.

And their later songs are getting better and more interesting.
I agree totally that mmmbops lyrics are actually infact a lot more thoughtful and deeper than first glance. my friend was having a bit of love trouble and me and another hanson fan friend of mine decided to write out the mmbop lyrics and give them to her. it seemed to fit perfectly in advice and fit much better than anything we could say. but yeh. just to basically say all there songs lyrics are amazing.

Hanza,

I agree with you. Even though they don't have the huge audience they once had, they have a strong core of devoted fans which are sticking with them. Since they are going the independent route, they will be doing things their way. They are not being forced by a label to do what is commercial, and I think that they will really do much better in the end.
exactly they are now free to do what they've always wanted to do, without the pressure of a label pushign them in any direction. i look forward ot all their new stuff

So then Hansonites. Which of the three is the odd one out? (Clue: the question is brought on by looking at the credit in MMMBop: 'I. Hanson/T. Hanson/Z. Hanson' )

Good. I'll come back to the second half later.
What is their father's name?

Really? How unfortunate, that makes my clue to part two rather confusing...
Erm... *laugh nervously to self*

Ok. If Zac wasn't called Zac, but was called Walker like his father, he would want to differentiate himself from his father by using his middle name. His father would be Walker Hanson, and Zac would be called Walker Walker Hanson.
Who else uses Walker to differentiate himself from his father.

Dammit! The prominant figure with the same middle name uses 'Walker' instead of being 'X X the second'

I think he's trying to compare Zac Hanson to George W. Bush, but I don't think even he knows what he's doing

I agree that it is hard to work out Hanson lyrics sometimes, but when you read them they can be great. The words of 'Penny and Me' are lovely - really sweet and honest and tender. As for "challenging" lyrics, how about "Yearbook"?

Yearbook sounds darker than other ones, it's much more mature than the rest of Middle of Nowhere. It also has four flats, which makes it evil.

I think they are a pretty good band, but I don't like them because of such a big deal everyone made out of them. People worshipped them. I remember a time when my sister knew what color tooth brushes they had. I also got had a negative view of them because it seemed like everyone who liked them was a girl. I hate it when a band's popularity is based (even partially) on their looks.

So, Miss Hanza, you considered comments and photos please... (any photos taken facing backwards may include some nerd-dude in a Bruce Springsteen t-shirt who answers to the name 'Janny'. )
