New page bug...

Anyway, it says "Littleadanel, could you figure out my latest sentence?" Well, if you mean this one, yes I could.

Sadly, Hungarian and Bangla are worlds apart, because 'ke' means who... on second thoughts, the languages are only a vowel apart... hmmm. Ki means something very like who. You know, one of the 'who, what, why, how, when' type of words.

You got the 'koro' and 'kore' part all right!

Of course they are It's just fun, discovering similar-sounding words, even if the meanings don't have anything in common (which is the case most of the time). Like one of Tolkien's orc-names, Boldog - it means happy in Hungarian.

And, another stab at the dark - 'ki' maybe 'why'?

You have a 50% chance of getting it right this time... or maybe it'll be easier if I just tell you? You'll find out two posts later anyway! So, here it is. 'Ki' means 'what'.

*wonders if there's any point of continuing the random guessing*

I mean, all I can possibly get by myself is the categories - verbs already identified - but as for the meanings, only stabs in the dark until I accidentally hit something. After all, Bangla is totally unknown for me.

I admit I tried to cheat though, doing a search for some help in translation... *hides * But not much success. Btw, it's a beautiful script you have!

ah! littleadanel, you give up, do you? I told you, untranslateable revenge. So here it is...nothing that complicated, really... here it is, literally, as close as I could get:

Ki(What) bolle(said)? Abar(again) bolo(say it), jore jore(loudly) bolo(say it), kichchui(not a word) to bujhlam(understand) na(not)! kire(What is it) kuddus mia, amon bhabe(in this way) mukh(mouth) baka(crooked) kore(do) kothao(speak) ken(why)? Thik(Right) moito(way) baat(talk) koro(do).

Which means, "What did you say? Say it again, loudly, for I understood none of it! Come, Kuddus Mia, why are you talking in such a strange manner? Do talk properly."

*bows to Serenoli* Untranslateable indeed.

Now don't tempt me to start talking in Hungarian.

*bump*

You speak Hungarian? Awesome! Finnish, Hungarian, and a language from the Ural mountains are in the same language family (which is quite small), is that right? I wouldn't mind seeing you speak Hungarian, even though I wouldn't understand it.

I think all of the Finno-Ugric languages originally come from the Ural mountains . Finnish, Hungarian and Estonian are probably the only languages of that family that are national (spoken in Finland, Hungary and Estonia). But then there are many dialects, such as Sámi and Meänkieli (in Scandinavia) and probably there's a number of Baltic dialects too.
