The baby has been named Ingrid Alexandra. That is a very nice combination . The name marks the bounds to the Danish and Swedish royal families. The Danish queen's mother was named Ingrid Alexandra, and she was the daughter of the Swedish king's grand-father.

Hope you don't think Norway is an old Soviet state
A few old soviet states that I remember right now are the Baltic nations Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Then there are Ukraine, Belarus, Khazakstan and Georgia.
A lot is going on in Georgia at the moment, you might be interested in that.

You knew it before I did. LOL.

Funny, Ingrid is one of the most popular girl names in Norway during the last years.

Ingrid is???? I liked Ingrid Bergman - but the name has the connotation here of old ladies. It's definitely not a popular name here.

Well old names seem to be having a renaissance in Norway.

I once saw the King of Norway (Olaf?) drive past when I was inter-railing around Scandinavia. Really enjoyed myself but it was an expensive part of the world for an impoverished student!

Overall I think I liked Bergen best.

Bergen has been on the news lately after that ship capsized there.

New news: In Hongkong, Norway beat Sweden in football (soccer) for the first time in 22 years.

Princesses being born, ships capsizing, Norwegian victories in football - It seems like a lot is going on in Norway right now, the media doesn't talk about anything else

I didn't know that either until I read it here. Luckily I got a good excuse.

I've heard worse. A friend of mine once talked to an American who claimed that Norway was the capital of Sweden.

Yeah, it's really expensive around here.

What does Bergen have that Oslo doesn't? Must be the fjords. If I ever get to be Mayor in this city I'm going to build fjords.

Go us. Haven't seen the whole match yet, watching it now.

Fjords are good. Plus it wasn't far from the nearest glacier. Plus I liked the Briggen (spelling?), and we found a really nice Italian restaurant, plus the camp site was nice and not too far away.

Oslo was ok, I'm just not a city sort of person I suppose.

Bergen, Brygen the old town and Loftus are among my favorites in Norway. Trouble is the further north you travel the more you have to post someone on "troll watch".

- Though you'd need someone on 'troll watch' in Oslo too, you never know what Falagar is up to...

Good enough for the Death of Mooters

Yeah, I saw that. I understand you had troubles with the links, due to trolls on your mind

Working as a troll there isn't really very hard. I just hide in some bushes and jump out on passing tourists. Especially fond of that little pond in the middle (playing an huldre isn't as hard as some would have it).

Funny. I was just reading about the name Ingrid posted here, and it reminded me of something my grandmama told me years ago. My grandmama's name is Elanor and she made my mother swear not to name me Elanor. She always hated her name. She said it sounded like a donkey's name.
