'handë' means knowledge and understanding. 'istya' means knowledge 'istyar' is a learned man or scholar. I think *looking around for Falagar and Wayfarer*perhaps istya is the best stem to use in this case. But I am learning also. Yando istyan Quenya lambë. Ommë istyauva. It is impossible to say the language of Aman, for unwise I am. Ai! úquétima lambë amanya, an alasailanyë. 'Pelnyë, lapsë!' is 'I return, babe.' óma is 'voice'. hehehehe, cute. I got it. |

'Twas supposed to be:
Alas! I cannot speak the tongue of Aman, for I am unwise. I thouht it said "lamba" was "language" in the Eng-Quen one, but in the Quen-Eng, I see it should have been "lambë". Quote:

Anyone wishing to join our conversations in the quenya language but needs help learning. Here is my favorite site with many links.
Ardalambion I think the Quenya course [see Tongues of Arda, first line of links, "course"] is excellent, helping with tense, possession, plurals, etc. If you are truely interested, you should refer to this when making words from stems. (And I am certainly no expert!) There is also a Quenya to English list and English to Quenya list farther down the page [scroll down to Other Resources, "Quenya Wordlists"]. It is helpful to keep a thesaurus by your computer. It will help you think of alternative words. I have found that many words are not directly listed but you can find other ways of saying the same thing in Quenya. Last edited by Ruinel : 04-18-2003 at 09:49 AM. |

"Come away (from fetch) find friendship/fellowship within those that make the Quenya words. Bad luck/Unluck we have. May it be that (or be it that) I cause it, for I have little knowledge of the Quenya word making." Tada! Your turn! Try to post a message. I'm having fun with this because I've always wanted to practice Quenya but had no place to do so. You folks are great! Last edited by Ruinel : 04-19-2003 at 05:39 PM. |

Off-topic: Lin, I was really tempted to put me as true love of Legolas in my title. Just to be mean to you, but I dropped the idea, because I'm a nice person.

Yes. You undoubtedly are the nicest person I have met. Pretty soon, though, I will have 500 posts so I may change my title to that. Plus, you know you admire me (not to mention miss me) Why did you have to go Lalaith! Ahhh. I am so bored. Last edited by Linaewen : 04-20-2003 at 08:29 AM. |

I said (In Adunic)
"Ruinal-girl, speak-you (with) elf-poise- (in) Quenya." Seeing as I left my big Quenya wordlist behind for the holiday...
