okay. I had seen yesterday that his name was changed to "I am a woman" for a short time but I thought you were talking about the Darth Tater name. I was just asking RE if she had seen the Tater's name as "I am really a woman".

My name is the name of a constellation of stars in the northern hemisphere, although I can't see it from where I live. I chose it because it is pretty and I like astronomy. I also chose it because it is the name of Frodos girlfriend in the funny parody of LOTR available at
http://flyingmoose.org/tolksarc/book.htm#toc The parody is much better than Bored of the Rings, but not yet finished.

Mine's from the chapter in RotK The Grey Havens, where Frodo says 'and there'll be Frodo-Lad and Rosie-Lass...' hence the name. My name's not Rosie in real life.

Essentially, mine is Elvish for "Ship day" but I think it sounds pretty.

Cassiopeia, do you know that your name is also a type of jellyfish? I live on a houseboat and we have cassiopeia all over the sea floor around us. Don't worry though, they're actually quite pretty and they don't hurt too bad.
My name: I was looking for a name for entmoot, fotR was sitting on my desk, and I opened it randomly to the Gildor chapter where Frodo watches Menelvagor, the Swordsman of the Sky (equivalent of Orion to us), rise over the horizon. I liked it. Since then I have taken to writing an 'm' tengwa with four dot's surrounding it (something on of my friends made up; a black dot=darkness; m tengwa with dots=Menelvagor with darkness all around= kinda cool ) on homework papers instead of my name. By now some of my teachers have started recognizing me by it! |

The constellation Cassiopeia is named after a queen in one of the Greek myths. She was the mother of Andromeda a very beautiful girl. Cassiopeia's vanity angered the Gods so they decided to punish her by making her sacrifice Andromeda to some monster. I believe Perseus rescued her. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right Eärniel. There's even an old classic movie about that. (Clash of the Titans?)

Yes! It was a hallmark in special effects because of all the stop-animation sequences; like the sinbad films.

I don't know much about Greek myths, but thanks for posting the story. It doesn't sound much like me except for the beautiful part. I try to see the movie. From Menelvagor's post maybe I should have a jellyfish as an avatar.

Maybe the jellyfish looks like the constellation from underneath.

Maybe that yellyfish was a pretty yellyfish or maybe just a vain one. I don't really recall how the constellation looked like but I remember (or I think I do) that there were three bright stars on a row that were called the girlde of Cassiopeia. The constellation also has an elvish name, i read it somewhere, can't remember. The yellyfish avatar is a cool idea. You'll get a lot of people asking where your avatar comes from.

My friends say I look and act like Bridget Jones, so they gave me the nickname. I also love the books and quote (I am scary when I do that!) "Sooo... have you read any good books lately?" Mark Darcy.

My name is pretty obvious unless you don't remember the group "America" I didn't want a name from the books, but I wanted something that would fit in nicely, so I thought of the song by "America", "Sister Golden Hair Surprise."

I chose my name because:
1) it's a good name 2) because all the others good names were taken. |

ok, the REAL story: no offense to any mooters whatsoever
when i first came here i actually thought that no one would really know about lord of the rings. i htought it was like any old message board, full of the perfect example of the scum of humans. so i picked a name that wasn't hardly mentioned in LOTR and there it be. plus she is one of my all time favourite characters. oh, by the way, everyone on here was really smart, alot smarter than me anyways, and i got abig ol surprise. SURPRISE! yea, don't hurt me too badly
