I think Legolas would make me feel safest. he is fast and accurate with his bow as well as with his twin swords. he is also physically and mentally fast and has keen eye sight and hearing.

Gandalf or Aragorn. Gandalf's always got some sort of trick he can pull and Aragorn is good with that sword of his. Come on.

Di (but thinks Legolas might not be a bad choice, either )

A young version of Bilbo Baggins! That guy is lucky, resourceful and clever. Also perhaps Galadriel because she's compassionate and caring to a point and would do her best. Another duh is Gandalf. But he has that whole thing about 'learning to do it yourself' thing which doesn't really hold water. And if I was on their good side Saruman and Sauron.

LONG LIVE THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE WEE SCARVIES!

you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink
i need home for a rest
we arrived in december and london was cold
so we stayed in thebars
along charing cross road
we never saw nothin' but brass taps and oak
kept a shine on the bar
with the sleeves of our coats
-chorus-
euston station the train journey north
in the buffet car we lurched back and forth
past odd crooked dykes
through yorkshire's green fields
we were flung into dance
as the train jigged and reeled
you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink
i need home for a rest
take me home....
by the light of the moon she'd drift through the streets
a rare old perfume so seductive and sweet
she'd tease us and flirt as the pubs all closed down
then walk us on home and deny us a round
-chorus-
the gas heater's empty, it's damp as a tomb
and the spirits we drank are not ghosts in the room
i'm knackered again, come on sleep take me soon
and don't lift up my head
'till the the twelve bells at noon
you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink

Interesting responses. I had to think about it for a while before I said who I would feel safest with and I came up with three choices.

Elrond, he's really wise, he has experience as a warrior, he has led succesful retreats and rescues, (like Eregion,) and safely held one of the elven rings for centuries, and he has raised three children of his own and many desendants of his brother's without going crazy.

Celeborn, again he's wise, has experience surviving in bad situations and probably has some experience dealing with children. Besides that he just seems like such a calm character.

and for personal and some practical reasons, Glorfindel.

Eru is both the most powerful and most "good" being in Middle Earth, so I would have to say being with him would be the safest.

If we're talking about earthly characters though . . . Tom Bombadil. He would, after all, be the last to fall.

Has anyone said Gimli? I would feel safe with Gimli because he is stout and if your trying to run away from him all he has to do is chopp a leg or two off.

Boromir.

*snicker...*

Okay, seriously -- I would feel the safest with Gandalf because he would be quicker to protect and is definitely one of the most powerful. He has wisdom beyond any inhabitants in Middle-earth, even Tom Bombadil, I think. Gandalf was laid bare before so much evil and so he understands its affects much better than anyone else, save Eru Ilúvatar. Therefore, I have to go with Gandalf.

My first thought was Aragorn. I would also feel safe with Treebeard or Tom Bombadil. They just all feel safe and comforting in a way. The Valar sound good because...well...duh but i wouldn't really feel as safe because they seem...i dont know. Sort of ...i dont know. So...hmm how about Melkor. um...no. ok i am tired. Actually, to tell the truth, i would feel safest not so much with who was more powerful, but who was more of a caring friend. I feel that way in real life too, to an extent.

weeeeeelllll i have put much thought into this but i dont think that the valar or eru should be allowed because how can you feel safe in the presence of such wrath if you do something bad or by accident they bloody make you stay on valinor for millions of years to show that you have learnt from your mistakes well ****
that for earthly beings id pick yes youve guessed it FINGOLFIN!!
hes a nice guy to be with and in battle who could beat him???
He nearly beat morgoth who else could do that?? Aragorn HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH gandolf???? AHAAHHAHAHAHA
no id feel safe with Fingolfin deffinately or maybe Turin.

Fingolfin_1st, um, no offense, but I counted one period through that whole thing. It kind of makes it hard to read.

By the way, is Turin a city in like, Italy or somewhere in Europe?

Turin is a character from the Silmarillion. He has a bad habit of killing friends and allies, pathological rages, and incest (he's just a little cursed). Really a great companion.

You should read the Silmarillion. You know when you read LotR and a bunch of strange names come up and stories from the path? This book explains them. It cures the whozits and the whatzits.

Oh yeah yeah i know who Turin is. But I was looking on a map on Geography class and I saw a name (Turin I think) and I thought it was from the Silmarillion. I don't remember where it was...

My first thought was Gandalf. He seems like the caring grandfather type who can still fight off orcs. Elrond and Galadriel make me feel safe too.

Strider

I would have to say Legolas or Aragorn.
Laegolas because he can hear and see danger when it's miles away and can warn me, giving me time to escape. He also has the most accurate aim and can probably take out many orcs per second. (plus he's a handsome prince; now that would be a good romantic fairy tale)

Aragorn because he's a Ranger and if I ever got lost in the wildnerness he could help me survive. He also is a very good swordsman and determined warrior. (plus he's a king lol)

I'd say Legolas without a doubt!
He can sense danger from a far and is very fast and percise with his bow and arrows.

I'd also feel safe with Aragorn and he's a very good swordsman.
