thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday guys. 19. nice. Last year as a teenager. Just about 3ish weeks left of my first year at college. Then off to Texas for a weekend (bat mitzvah). Then LONDON! For 6 weeks. It will be awesome.

I'm getting so old. :P

Dang - I joined Nov 1999 - I was 11 then and in 6th grade.

I remember 19. I knew everything. Every year that's passed, the amount I know as a proportion of the amount there is to know has decreased. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Have a fabby time in London. Grooviest city in the world, apparently. Make sure to visit St Paul's, then walk across the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern.

6 weeks?!?!?!!?!?!?!

*drops dead from jealousy*

Are you going to make some side trips, like up to Gaffer's neck o' the woods in Scotland? Be sure and get a Britrail pass, or whatever they're called (at least if they're still as good a deal as they were went I went there...)

See "Mousetrap", if it's still playing - St. Martin's theater, was it? Tower of London is a must, eat at pubs (is that still good advice, BB?) - you'll have a great time

Drink at pubs seems like generally good advice.

or bars ...

6 weeks? well, visit, as rian says, some of the countryside too if you can. Lots to do in London - a city of variety - sure paris is pretty - and worth a toodle on over to - you can jump on a train!

But london is alive, and a city of many diversions. How come you are there for 6 weeks? Is it a specific thing? The OXO tower is good to eat at - lovely views over to the City and St pauls... near the Globe too - and a walk down the river to the BFI and national theatre -

London is pricey tho' Hobbit ...esp for your weak US $ sadly.

Not been to the new Tate yet Gaffer - tried to once, but we got diverted en route - ironically ended up on a beutiful day eating (on the ground floor, not at the rooftop, which is better - though we did have a drink up there) at the oxo tower building - then sunbathing out on a jetti watching waterloo bridge go golden...

(have some pics somewhere)

When did you last visit london Rian?

oh, years and years ago ... more than 20!

I didn't mean that the food was especially good in pubs, but it was OK, and it was just fun and quick and easy

Happy Birthday Messa , Curun*r , Jiana_the_Strong - even though I've never seen any of you post and you haven't been here in a long while.
----------
It's an internship program - I'll be dong some sort of communications internship - hopefully something in TV production. I haven't been assigned what exactly I'll be doing and with what company - and I won't until as late as a week before I leave.

It is for 6 academic credits. On monday we have class (i think) - and tuesday - friday we have our internships. The weekend is ours - we just need to be back by monday.

And there are organized day trips to Bath & stonehenge, and Cambridge.

I'll be in the Kensington district, anything good there?

6 weeks? prepare to detox afterwards.

Don't miss the British Museum...Elgin marbles and Magna Carta, and a really nice collection of celtic metalwork. The museum at the Tower was good, too, but kind of variable, except for the crown jewels, of course.

Get outta town, though, boy. Scotland is best (ducks thrown fish and chips) but if you don't get that far the medieval cities rock. The University cities, Bath, York...depends on what you're into, but I also loved a lot of abandoned areas full of surly Celts, like Dartmoor and over the line in Dyfed.

And no one should go home without going to Avebury and to see the Cerne Giant down in Dorset.

Have way lots of fun.
