OPEC hasnt raised prices. If anything theyve increased input. Blame ourselves if you want to blame someone. And Katrina doesnt help either. And the stupid speculators who are driving the price of gas through the ceiling because they are worried about supply. Only ten refineries have gone offline because of this. Thats some but a significant minority. It shouldnt cause the gas prices to go up at such a rapid pace. Im hearing reports of up to $6 a gallon already in places as far north as Maryland... The gougers are having a field day...

EDIT: If you see any signs of gas gouging in your area report it: http://gaswatch.energy.gov/

yep, it aint opec... in fact, they offered just yesterday, i believe, to ramp up oil production to make up for refinery losses to katrina

I'm listening to a Coachella Valley radio station. It's on right now as I type! They're doing some sort of drive for supplies.

Get used to it. And if that doesn't enrage you yet further..

Think yourself lucky.

It's about 8 bucks a gallon here in the UK.

Gah! Tax beer and wine?! Well I'll be fizzled.... Yeah, in Europe, average price of gas is something like 4-5 bucks American....crazy high, but then again, European cars have on average 40+ more miles per gallon than American cars. There is an article in the recent Christian Sience Monitor and a correpsonding one in the Times....

I'm happy, all the traveling I did back home was on either a horse or a motorcycle....gas price didn't hurt me. And here I have a motorcycle so, all is happy wallet wise.

VENT: Wound really hurting today.......its closing up but my skin feels ready to split! YOWCH!

I bet gas prices in Hawaii are nothing to shake a stick at - I mean, even a gallon of milk over there is through the roof.

Its 2.89 more or less, over here. Thats for regular.
We had a gashog Volvo for awhile...my dad bought a Geo metro, it gets nearly 42 miles per gallon! It can't hold more than 20 gallons, but still...

EDIT: oops, this is the vent thread...

No, it's the smilie version of:
"LOL! This is not a threat, just a bit of impending doom--Just kidding. And I know what you mean by the 2.89. IT's just like the price at Buttonwillow. Never buy gas at Taft! It's insane! If you can't make the extra few miles, go to Buttonwillow. And by hte way, the cost of gas in the Coachella Valley was supposed to go to $3 a gallon two weeks ago, but luckily they haven't risen it."

I wonder if by any chance these two facts are related.

Yep, 90p a litre, 4.5 litres a gallon, that's about 7 bucks, the vast majority of it tax. And we were, until very recently, a net exporter of oil.

Mind you, Britain is smaller than most US states, so that's probably got something to do with it too.

I don't know a thing about honda accords. All I know is that they are responsible for the car dealers leaving their lights on all night.
